Sonesta Atlanta Airport North receives mixed reviews, with some praising its convenient location and friendly staff, while others highlight significant issues including construction noise, outdated rooms, and inconsistent service. Recent feedback indicates a decline in overall quality and responsiveness, particularly regarding parking fees and maintenance issues. Overall the hotel is good, but falling short of expectations.
Only issue for me was a $25.00 fee to park your car even as a guest. I do feel this is unethical. I didn’t know this beforehand. But everything else was great. It feels high end as soon as you walk in. Front desk personnel are super friendly and quick to get you going with a smile. Barbara is exceptional! It’s clean well kept.
?I had a highly disappointing stay at the Sonesta Atlanta Airport North, and unfortunately, the cons heavily outweighed the pros. ?? The Pros: Convenience & Dining ?Great Location: The hotel is conveniently close to the airport, and the shuttle service made transportation easy and stress-free. ?Amazing Food: The bright spot of the entire stay was the food. The culinary team did an excellent job, and the meals were delicious (though the drinks could definitely use some improvement). ?? The Cons: Construction Noise & Poor Management ?The main issue began when we were placed on a floor actively undergoing construction. We experienced constant, loud, and incredibly annoying knocking. When I called the front desk to understand why they would assign guests to a floor with active construction, I didn't get a satisfactory response. To properly voice my concerns and actually speak with a manager, I was forced to get dressed and walk all the way down to the lobby. ??? Room Quality: More Like a Motel 6 ?The rooms themselves are in desperate need of an update. ?The overall atmosphere was dingy and very stuffy. ?The carpet is old and nasty—make sure you pack socks or flip-flops because you will not want to walk barefoot. ?The chairs in the room were covered in unpleasant stains. ?For the price and the brand name, this felt much more like a budget Motel 6 than a Sonesta. Between the outdated, stained room and the lack of consideration regarding the construction noise, I was very disappointed. I won't be staying here again.
Only 1 of 3 elevators worked the entire weekend. Restaurant didn't offer lunch (didn't have a lot of time between meetings to go out for lunch). Marketplace self checkout was down more often than working. Staff we very professional and helpful. Hotel is absolutely gorgeous. Very neat and clean. I will definitely stay again.
Beautiful property. Rooms are immaculate!!! Great stay. However, be advised parking is $25 a day and thats not made aware until check in. Very important information that I wish I had known prior to booking. But still, great hotel. Would stay again.
We were in town to attend 2819 church. We brought our dogs along for the road trip and this place was absolutely amazing! They except well mannered dogs with noo breed or size discrimination. We have a great dane and also pitty mix so that part was very big for us. The staff did a wonderful job even though they were slammed busy when we arrived. The rooms have been updated recently and look great inside! They have a restaurant on property that was very tasty and there are several really good restaurants within walking distance. They did such a great job we found another location to stay at our next stop for the road trip. We will definitely be staying here for next visit to Atlanta. Big thanks to Ariel and Sree at the front desk and Bob the bartender for such great service.
Got delayed with Delta and stayed overnight at the Sonesta. The rooms are clean, comfortable & quiet. We had the pleasure of meeting the GM Heidi as we were checking out. Heidi went out of her way to help us get back to the airport. She is a very personable and helpful asset to the hotel. Great place to stay.
THE person that MADE this stay for us was the receptionist Barbara C. She was so outgoing, friendly, pleasant, warm, kind and helpful. She immediately made us feel welcomed. The gentlemen that met us when we pulled up in our car was extremely helpful as well. The room was great. No problems whatsoever. This is a perfect place to stay prior to catching a flight. Now! Off to Iceland.
Edit: Downgrading to 1 star for safety. The power went out this morning, so I didn't want to use the elevator. Unfortunately for me, the door from the stairs to the lobby was locked, forcing me to go outside into the parking lot just to get down to the lobby. Then I find out that they intentionally lock the lobby door to the stairs, and won't let you go back up to your room except through the elevator. I'm not sure how that's in any way legal, it feels like a massive fire hazard. I will not be staying at this hotel or any of it's associated hotels in the future. Avoid at all costs. I'm writing this review as I wait at the empty front desk for someone to come give me a new set of keys for the third time today because our lock messed up. I've been waiting for about 20 minutes, and so far it doesn't look like anyone's showing up any time soon. So let's see if I can finish this review before I get service. The lobby is nice, but the rest is substandard. The hallways are musty and smell, the bathrooms have no extractor fans, the toilet paper is the cheapest worst kind possible, the lobby bathrooms are freezing and have no hot water, Service is inconsistent. The restaurant staff are all very nice and helpful, but the rest of this experience is severely underwhelming.
Room 1107 is hidden behind the elevators. Nice and quiet; however, there isn't any hot water in the shower (but available in the sink). Sadly, I didn't know of it until the morning I wanted to shower before checking out. The front desk was not apologetic nor did they try to offer any service recovery. I was hoping to be well prepared and well groomed for a job interview in the area; but all I encountered was an ice-bucket challenge in the end of January during the storm of the decade. And BTW, the executive lounge on the 11th floor is not stocked at all. Only available water bottles and coffee machines.
Staff was friendly. Overall state of the hotel was a bit tired. Stains on furniture, bit of a stuffy/funky smell in the hallways and rooms, with a layer of fragrance over the top trying to cover it up. Beds were very comfortable, bedding clean, and bathroom had been recently updated. Main part of the room itself was definitely ‘used’. Wear and tear and carpet / upholstery stains. TV did not work (no signal on any of the inputs), and ice machine on our floor was removed (Just a remaining hole in the floor on L7). Fridge was working, coffee maker worked. Mixed experience overall. Would opt for elsewhere next time.
