I stayed for 3 nights, and unfortunately this was one of the worst hotel experiences I have had. This hotel is rated 4 stars, but it felt worse than many 3-star hotels I have stayed in. The room and furniture looked very old, like they had not been updated since the 1990s. The bathroom was in terrible condition. The shower fixtures were loose and falling apart, there was mold in multiple areas, and the bathroom had a strong moldy smell. The photos speak for themselves. Another major issue was housekeeping. We were never informed at check-in that housekeeping would not clean the room daily. There was no note in the room, and the booking details and policies provided to guests did not mention that rooms would only be cleaned on the fourth day of a stay. Naturally, we assumed daily housekeeping was included. By the third day, our room still had not been cleaned, so I went to the front desk to ask about it. The front desk told me that housekeeping only comes on the fourth day of a stay, meaning guests staying fewer than four days must request cleaning themselves. When I asked why this was not explained at check-in, I was told they were “too busy” to tell me. That explanation made no sense because when I checked in there were multiple front desk employees standing there and no guests waiting. To make matters worse, the hallways were extremely noisy late at night. People were yelling back and forth in the hallway, and the noise was loud enough to wake us up twice during our stay. A hotel should provide a comfortable place to rest, but that was not the case here. The property is clearly showing its age, the cleanliness was unacceptable, and the lack of communication regarding housekeeping made the experience even more frustrating. I was very disappointed and would not stay here again. There are many 3-star hotels that provide cleaner rooms, better maintenance, quieter accommodations, and far better customer service than this hotel.

I don’t normally write reviews, but the level of customer service I’ve experienced under the circumstances needs to be recognized. I was on my way to Miami from California when I experienced and issue with my motorcycle. I was fortunate enough it happened in front of this hotel, who is fortunate enough to have a awesome lady by the name of Mae working the front desk. She was very polite, knowledgeable and compassionate during such a unexpected moment. The facility was very nice and clean to add, I would definitely stay here if your reading this. Ask for Mae if you do!?

This is my first time here and I love it. Mae checked me in and I’m here for my birthday and she is making it so special! The room is amazing! It’s spacious, cozy and I’m on the top floor so I can see over the area. My god I just can’t put enough words to describe this place. I will definitely be making this my destination hotel anytime I’m in Duluth. Mae, thank you so much really. This is an amazing birthday.

I've stayed at this Sonesta a few times through my life but this recent time I am impressed. Shout out to Mae at the front desk for all her humility and hospitality... it made our stay worth it. She was so helpful and informative of the different benefits of staying here. My check in with her was amazing and smooth. She put us in a renovated room and it made me fall in love with this hotel all over again. The rooms are immaculate and truly fitting. The most modern fixtures... beautiful lighting and amazing gold trim every where. This is my go to hotel for a staycation, a few nights, and even a bit of a longer stay. Breakfast is always fresh and ready when I am in the mood... I go down there. Shout out to Laurent as well... he was the attendant at the breakfast restaurant. He was kind and helpful really made sure I got the most bang for my buck while making me feel at home. I love it here truly.

I had a great stay at Sonesta Hotel. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel welcome and taken care of. Mae, Daisy, and Sabrina at the front desk were outstanding, warm, professional, and always ready to help with a smile. The room I stayed at was brand new. Skip was incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure everything was running smoothly. Eric and Laurent were also very friendly and approachable, always greeting us and checking in to make sure we were comfortable. That kind of energy makes a big difference. The entire team felt genuine and kind. The atmosphere truly felt like family, not just a hotel stay. I’ll definitely be back.

This is a location suitable for conferences or reunions. The free breakfast was very good. Our room was very large with a kitchen which included a stove in a full size refrigerator the bed was very comfortable. The wait staff was very friendly period and address any concerns immediately. It is in a location where there are many places to eat. We had an issue with the first room they gave us but the second room was excellent. I would definitely stay there again without hesitation.

Upon checking in, I had the pleasure of meeting Mae, who truly went above and beyond during my stay. I was dealing with the loss of a loved one, and her compassion and kindness meant more to me than words can express. Mae consistently checked in to make sure I was okay and took the initiative to reach out to other departments to ensure my family and I had everything we needed. She was truly amazing, and her thoughtful words and genuine care made an incredibly difficult time a little easier. Thank you again, Mae—your kindness meant the world to me.

For sure the worst hotel I’ve stayed in so far. I came for a conference for school and there was a swingers event which made it very uncomfortable! KNOWINGLY having it while hundreds of young girls are there is beyond WEIRD. So there should have been some sort of communication between parties. The conference room where our seminar was freezing cold due to the heat not working. Mind you it's 28 degrees outside! Aside from that there were rooms on my floor that were unlocked and open that were being renovated…cool… but CLOSE/LOCK the door. Serious safety hazard as there were loose nails in the hallway near the door. Also there was a NASTY zyn pack stuck to the wall above our tv in the room. In addition to my room, my friend’s room had some sort of greasy goop on the wall that smelled like vapor rub. Just shows how “well” they clean the rooms. On top of all of that the hospitality sucked. I asked the front desk guy where breakfast was being served and he looked at me like I was an idiot and just pointed, didnt even open his mouth. People can’t even open their mouths to greet you! This is a huge seminar bringing in a ton of business so at least fake a smile! I have attached photos of the zyn pack along with one of the open rooms being renovated.
