The Sonesta Gwinnett Place Atlanta generally receives positive reviews, particularly highlighting the friendly and accommodating staff, especially Sabina and Mae. Recent renovations have improved the rooms, and guests appreciate the comfortable beds and convenient location near restaurants and conference venues. However, concerns regarding outdated facilities, maintenance issues, and inconsistent service, particularly concerning key access and early check-in, have been raised in recent reviews.
I have stayed here on multiple occasions and I absolutely love the newly renovated rooms. I will always stay here whenever I am in Duluth. The staff is always professional. Special thanks to Ms. Sabina, Mae, Dale and the entire front desk staff. Always friendly, warm and fun. My stay here is always pleasant.
I had a great stay at Sonesta Hotel. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel welcome and taken care of. Mae, Daisy, and Sabrina at the front desk were outstanding, warm, professional, and always ready to help with a smile. The room I stayed at was brand new. Skip was incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure everything was running smoothly. Eric and Laurent were also very friendly and approachable, always greeting us and checking in to make sure we were comfortable. That kind of energy makes a big difference. The entire team felt genuine and kind. The atmosphere truly felt like family, not just a hotel stay. I’ll definitely be back.
I have stayed here on multiple occasions and I absolutely love the newly renovated rooms. I will always stay here when I am in Duluth. The staff is always professional. Special thanks to Ms. Sabina for going over and beyond to make sure my stay is pleasant, she really stood out with such a warm welcome ?. We laughed and this really made my Valentines weekend special. Thanks for being a great host!
This is a location suitable for conferences or reunions. The free breakfast was very good. Our room was very large with a kitchen which included a stove in a full size refrigerator the bed was very comfortable. The wait staff was very friendly period and address any concerns immediately. It is in a location where there are many places to eat. We had an issue with the first room they gave us but the second room was excellent. I would definitely stay there again without hesitation.
Upon checking in, I had the pleasure of meeting Mae, who truly went above and beyond during my stay. I was dealing with the loss of a loved one, and her compassion and kindness meant more to me than words can express. Mae consistently checked in to make sure I was okay and took the initiative to reach out to other departments to ensure my family and I had everything we needed. She was truly amazing, and her thoughtful words and genuine care made an incredibly difficult time a little easier. Thank you again, Mae—your kindness meant the world to me.
For sure the worst hotel I’ve stayed in so far. I came for a conference for school and there was a swingers event which made it very uncomfortable! KNOWINGLY having it while hundreds of young girls are there is beyond WEIRD. So there should have been some sort of communication between parties. The conference room where our seminar was freezing cold due to the heat not working. Mind you it's 28 degrees outside! Aside from that there were rooms on my floor that were unlocked and open that were being renovated…cool… but CLOSE/LOCK the door. Serious safety hazard as there were loose nails in the hallway near the door. Also there was a NASTY zyn pack stuck to the wall above our tv in the room. In addition to my room, my friend’s room had some sort of greasy goop on the wall that smelled like vapor rub. Just shows how “well” they clean the rooms. On top of all of that the hospitality sucked. I asked the front desk guy where breakfast was being served and he looked at me like I was an idiot and just pointed, didnt even open his mouth. People can’t even open their mouths to greet you! This is a huge seminar bringing in a ton of business so at least fake a smile! I have attached photos of the zyn pack along with one of the open rooms being renovated.
The rooms are disgusting. The “suite” I booked has the 1 bedroom king bed and the towel holder broke while I was in the shower. There was a hole near the floor where the tile was coming off where a roach ran into. The shower was look warm and when I complained I was told there was nothing they could do. Don’t waste your money here. My vehicle was stolen out of the parking lot 20 minutes after checking in. The manager (black lady her name is long and starts with an S) told me to check with repo lol and then proceeded to tell me that’s why they have signs in the parking lot to park at your own risk. She made sure I knew she was the “front desk manager”. I don’t think I would be proud of being an employee here. It’s like a work force of people that can’t get hired anywhere else.. I won’t ever set foot in this hotel again. The pool is black and doesn’t look like it’s been cleaned all year. Oh and they hold your card for $100 and then let you read a sign while you’re standing there to find out it won’t be returned to your card for 30 days. Now they are trying to charge my card again after we left this hell hole. Zero stars would be more accurate.
Overall a good stay. I'd stay again. Service was great. The room was well done, very comfortable bed, beautiful bathroom, and mostly quiet. I say mostly because at 2am we had several very loud drunk people in the hallway one night. It sounded like they were in our room. The only major issue we had were the lights and bed size. We booked for double beds and got a king. Not a big deal for us but it was slightly disappointing. The store was nice but both sodas I purchased were flat. One was even open (didn't realize). The room has automated lights which were very disruptive to sleep for the other person. Couldn't turn them off. Shower was wonderful. Very good pressure and hot water. My only complaint is there is nowhere for you to prop your leg up when shaving. I do recommend this hotel.
? Worst Hotel Stay – Avoid This Place! This was one of the most uncomfortable hotel stays I’ve ever had. 1. Wall light stays on 24/7 – as shown in the photo, this bright wall light cannot be turned off. There’s no switch, and the glow floods the entire room all night, making it impossible to sleep. 2. Overuse of motion lights – almost 10 motion lights throughout the room (ceiling, around the beds, and even the bathroom). It’s a ridiculous setup that keeps lighting up when you’re just trying to rest. 3. Poor shower setup – no shampoo/conditioner or even a simple soap holder in the shower. You literally have to place your toiletries on the floor. 4. It takes forever and few reminders before you get anything from front desk. Overall, the room design is completely impractical for comfort or sleep. I strongly recommend avoiding this hotel until they fix these basic issues.
Sabina has the most wonderful customer service! She's always so nice and accommodating when I come to the hotel. I'm always happy to see her. The updated room is really nice. Now I see why there's been so much noise in my recent stays I can still smell the paint on the wall. The beds here are very comfortable and I like that they got rid of the carpet floors being that they allow animals this is much more sanitary. The only thing missing is soap holders in the shower
