This property offers exceptional, city-wide views from its distinctive height but is severely let down by a lack of maintenance, outdated infrastructure, and inconsistent service quality.
View was the only plus point of this hotel. Breakfast was better than most hotels in the US but nothing that made me excited about. The rooms were very spacious but not at all clean, the carpet was very sticky, there was dust at almost every corner and the floor decor looked dark and muggy. Not what I expected from a Marriot hotel
We did a mini vacation to celebrate my husband and my birthdays and our anniversary and Valentine's all in one. We really enjoyed staying here. The hospitality of the folks who work here is awesome we did the breakfast package which we highly recommend because they are amazing outstanding terrific service food is wonderful and they treat like they have known us their whole lives which was awesome we highly recommend getting a high room the view is worth it. Only downfall was Everytime we went out to do something we couldn't walk bc the homeless guys would chase you off and onto the property which was uncomfortable it's sad actually. We rented bikes and scooters just to take off haha they're spectacular and fun to ride and Westin keeps a lot on the property too
Rooms are very squshy, the bathroom was extremely small, you could sit on the toilet: touch the sink, the shower, and the door all at once. The rooms need to renovoated as well as the hotel, it's dated, and expensive for what you don't get to enjoy. The observatory viewing floor on 72 was closed and had no time frame of when it would reopen, another disappointment. We were there for 4 days and we had no hot water, we called and talked to the front desk everyday, the Westin staff always mentioned maintenance was on their way... maybe the maintenance crew was coming from Marriott headquarters in Maryland to ATL¿¡ The front desk staff mentioned that the management staff was unavailable for 4 days to discuss this issue with us and the hotel was fully booked so their were no rooms for the Westin to move us into! The sheets were dirty and stained, our bathroom sink was cracked. Plus our refrigerator was broken, it wouldn't get cold, the housekeeping staff verified it was broken. Overall another dilapitating overpriced Marriott property!!! The front desk couldn't offer us money back for our stay as management wasn't available to approve the reimbursement. Once again a disappointment from a $80 billion company. Thank you, Marriott for a horrible stay in ATL!!!
I was extremely disappointed with my stay at this Westin property. I typically expect a high standard from this brand, but the condition of the hotel was far below expectations and more comparable to a budget motel. The cleanliness and maintenance were poor throughout the property. The carpets were torn, walls were heavily scratched and in need of paint, and the chairs in the room were damaged. The pool area was especially concerning — lighting was so dim you could not clearly see the bottom, and used towels were left scattered around with no visible staff attending to the area. I also did not observe any noticeable security presence during my stay. The on-site Starbucks was also problematic. I ordered a plain coffee twice, and both times it had a very unpleasant taste, suggesting the creamer or equipment may not have been fresh or properly maintained. During the night, I was awakened around 2:30 AM by what sounded like multiple gunshots followed by police and ambulance sirens, which felt unsafe and unsettling. Given the condition of the property and lack of visible security measures, this added to the overall concern. Additionally, the hotel charges $65 per day for parking, yet the process to park and retrieve a vehicle took an excessive amount of time. Overall, the property did not match the appearance presented online and did not meet the standards I associate with the Westin brand. I would not recommend staying at this location.
Once a 4-star hotel, this property is now in serious need of a major renovation. I genuinely love the late-1970s architecture, so I appreciate that aspect and wish the hotel would lean into that. Unfortunately, the rooms and common areas are extremely worn and dated...more early-2000s, and I’ve stayed in 2-star motels that were in better condition. The shower had strong water pressure (a definite plus), but the drain was clogged, and the room frequently smelled like sewer gas. Top sheets for the beds are not large enough. The Sundial Bar was fun and not crowded, even during an otherwise busy stay. The pool area is nice, though almost comically hidden. Be aware that anything sent to you at the hotel is routed through the on-site FedEx location, with additional fees ranging from $10–$30. Housekeeping also removed a personal pillow during our stay, which was disappointing. This could be a great hotel with a significant update. The service, location, and views are all nice - when the windows aren’t completely fogged, which they were for most of our stay. Overall, decent, but don’t expect a 4-star experience.
If you’re paying $400-$600+ a night to stay a the Westin, I expect top tier cleanliness and service. I have traveled all over the world; Dubai, Paris, Thailand, the Caribbean, you name it and have stayed in hotels way cheaper with much better cleaning. The only thing you’re paying for here is the view. White liquid substance in the elevators, condom wrapper remains in the hallway, Starbucks was closed at 2pm when they aren’t supposed to close until the late evening, our first room shower water was lukewarm, and the second shower drain was clogged. I had to walk to Dunkin 5 mins away for an iced coffee and felt uncomfortable due to the amount of addicts and homeless men on the streets as a woman because for whatever reason Starbucks decided to shut their store inside of the hotel down. I asked the help desk and they were even unaware.. they simply said “oh… they must’ve left early”. What in Gods name are we paying so much money for? I would like to continue the relationship with the Westin and continue booking with you all; as my fiancé and I are world travelers, but please step it up and give people what they pay for. My friends stayed at the Hilton down the street and the rooms were much cleaner and updated. Clearly management here is not doing their job. And before you guys comment and say that I did not stay, my booking was under the last name Ellis & I was her guest. The cleanliness of this place is absolutely unacceptable. The good things I would say is that the views are awesome and the express services was very accommodating & the gym was also nice. I’m an Atl native and have been to many of our hotels in the city and this one was greatly disappointing. I hope this can be rectified.
The stay was great! The room was very clean, and the common areas were always in good condition. I was MOST impressed with the service from MOSES (bartender in the lounge). As my daughter and I sat down (in an area where a server normally takes care of patrons) to place our order, there was no server on duty at the time. MOSES stepped in, explained the situation and graciously took our order. He went beyond what was required and gave us excellent service. My daughter and I were very grateful and truly appreciated his service. (Please note we left a generous tip but MOSES had gone on break, so we are hopeful that the server who was then on duty gave it to him) We later returned to get hot water for tea and once again MOSES stepped in and assisted us. It was truly a pleasure to meet MOSES and if there is a reward for having great service and getting your name in a review, it should ABSOLUTELY go to MOSES!
I recently stayed at the Westin Peachtree Plaza and was incredibly disappointed. For a 4-star rated hotel, the experience fell far short of expectations in almost every category. The hotel is showing its age and is in desperate need of a renovation. Our room had stained carpets, worn-out furniture, and the bathroom tile and shower area looked visibly old and grimey. Even the elevators were unsettling—creaking and shaking on the way up to the 52nd floor. Be prepared for a $60/night parking fee. Having stayed at high-end resorts in Hawaii and major cities, I’ve rarely seen a fee this high, and the level of service here certainly doesn't justify it. The most upsetting part of the stay was the service. At the Sun Dial bar, the bartender was outright rude, ignoring our order to serve others who arrived after us—many of whom appeared to be off-duty employees or friends. The worst part was when my sister tried to join us. Despite the bar being half-empty (we were looking at the empty seats while on the phone with her), the hostess refused to let her up, claiming it was full. We felt unwelcome and treated differently by the staff throughout our stay. It is clear that hospitality is not a priority for the current team. Between the dated rooms, astronomical parking, and miserable service, I cannot recommend this hotel. There are much better options in Atlanta where you will actually feel like a valued guest.
We had a confirmed reservation for tonight at The Westin Peachtree Plaza, but due to travel delays we arrived just before 2:00 a.m. What followed was one of the most unacceptable hotel experiences I’ve ever had. We were informed that the property was “updating their system” and that no guests could be checked in for approximately two hours, meaning my wife and three young children were expected to wait until 4:00 a.m. with no meaningful accommodation, solution, or sense of urgency. System maintenance may be unavoidable—but failing to plan for overnight arrivals at a major Westin property is an operational failure, not a guest problem. There was no proactive communication, no alternate check-in process, no temporary room access, no offer of compensation, and no empathy for a family arriving in the middle of the night. This is not the level of service expected from a Westin or from a Marriott-branded hotel. Overnight travelers exist. Families exist. Emergencies exist. A two-hour shutdown with no contingency plan is simply inexcusable. I strongly urge hotel leadership and Marriott corporate to review overnight operations, staff training, and system-maintenance policies. No family with a valid reservation should ever be left waiting at 2:00 a.m. because of poor internal planning. Extremely disappointed, and I will think twice before booking this property again unless meaningful changes are made.
I stayed here for a conference taking place in the hotel, which made it very convenient. If not for this and for it being a business expense, I would not stay in this hotel. Pros: Decent room, very comfy bed, nice city views. Convenient Starbucks inside and lots of places to sit and work. Cons: $60/night valet in addition to the already expensive room. There were visible tears and stains on the carpet, a visible hole in my wall where the phone plugged in, and very worn furniture. The expensive buffet breakfast was no better than a free one at a 3-star hotel. The a/c in my room was either full on or full off, no in-between. Food deliveries - while the hotel did have a dedicated space for guests to receive food deliveries, and while I found out later that they also provide plastic utensils and cardboard to-go containers at the bar, it would be so much more helpful to place these directly by the food delivery space. I understand that Westin is a higher-end hotel name and with that comes a higher price, but that higher-end feel is not there in the rooms or hallways. Overall, this hotel has location and convenience going for it, but the value is definitely not there, and in my opinion, does a disservice to the Westin brand.
