Offering convenient downtown Atlanta access in a charming historic building, this location mixes excellent hospitality with notable cleanliness and maintenance issues. While the staff is frequently praised for their professionalism and friendliness, guests report inconsistent housekeeping, aging room furniture, and noise from traffic or thin walls.
Stayed at Hampton Inn & Suites Atlanta-Downtown. The location is very good and convenient for visiting many attractions in downtown Atlanta. However, room cleaning was not done every day, which could definitely be improved. Toiletries should also be replaced daily for better guest comfort. The breakfast was decent, but adding more vegetarian options would be helpful for many travelers. Overall a comfortable stay with scope for some improvements.
Best room layout ever! Entering the room we had a sofa, desk, and television. Continuing on there was a sink, refrigerator, and coffee station. Across from that was the bathroom. Then a door that closed off the sleeping area with its own television. What a beautiful concept! Best set up ever. I also thoroughly enjoyed the fact that they clean room rooms every other day. Therefore, I didn’t feel like I was being pushed out of my room for the maid to come through.
This was by far one of the best check in processes I’ve had- T was so honest and transparent about all the pricing and made sure to make me feel safe and welcomed. I really appreciate how T explained the neighborhood to help me understand the value and I really appreciated their security. The parking lot is well lit up and directly next to the hotel. This place should be 5 stars just from Ts front desk check in service. She pointed out where the breakfast was and the 24/7 free tea and coffee. ?? Beat that!
The customer service was great and the staff was amazing. However, I will never stay at this hotel again. This hotel normally costs around $100 per night, but I was charged over $500 for one night. On top of that, there was no dedicated parking for hotel guests. They share a very small parking lot with the public, which makes no sense considering guests need parking. There was barely enough space for their own customers. I was forced to park across the street in a garage that cost $65 per day. The garage itself was horrible there was no security, and there were signs everywhere saying “park at your own risk.” That did not make me feel safe at all. I have never been told to “go find parking” at a hotel where I paid almost $600 for a single night. That was extremely disappointing and unacceptable. To make matters worse, the room wasn’t clean, and a friend of mine found mold in their room. Overall, I am very unhappy with my stay. The lack of parking and the unsafe parking situation were the worst parts of the experience. Very disappointed. I will not be staying here again.
If I could give this hotel a negative rating I would! My fiancé and I stayed at this hotel for 2 days and wanted to extend an extra day. They kept harassing us and calling, asking us when we were coming down to extend even though we told them several times that we would be down in just a minute. As soon as we came down it was a very hostile interaction and we could feel the negative energy being directed towards us. They were making it seem like we were not going to pay because we only had cash. They insisted we go to cvs immediately and come right back like we were going to run away or something. When we came back we felt like the interaction was just so off we honestly decided to just check out. The manager then refuses to give us our card for our room and makes this dread head lady come up with us on the elevator and open our door. We’re 15 minutes into packing and cleaning up when we heard a knock on the door telling us we need to hurry up. Then 5 minutes later 5-7 people storm in our room and start yelling us for moving too slow. Then claimed that we were dirty and disgusting. Even though the room was fairly clean. I offered to give them tips and she said no at first but then but then took the money and even had the audacity to ask for more. We got scammed out of 400 dollars FOR TIPS! Then it took a turn for the worst when the dreadhead lady started throwing our stuff out the room and yelling at me. They started getting really aggressive towards me to. And the house keeper tried to assault me , a 80 pound girl. She charged at me while I was in the elevator and her manager held her back. They even made fun of me for crying. We are looking into filing a complaint and filing a grievance. These people are ratchet and unprofessional . we are traumatized
One of the more unique Hampton properties we’ve stayed in on our travels domestically. The building is historic, built in the 1920s for some other use. Our suite had modern comforts and was spacious. Bed was comfortable and our 5th floor room was quiet. Breakfast and front desk staff were friendly.
I saw another recently posted comment about Courtney and wanted to share my experience with this attendant as well. Very curious to see if others have had a similar experience. I had a 3 night booking at this hotel around Christmas 2025 (a few weeks ago) with my wife and toddler. Courtney was at the front desk for check-in. I understand that hotels/service staff can be pretty slammed during this time, but her behavior towards me was beyond rude. The experience really soured our stay. I really don't want to make this a racial issue, but she seemed quite friendly/courteous with the other guests (I'm Asian American, for the record). Happy to expound on my experience. Luckily we split our Atlanta vacation up into two separate hotels. After our stay at Hampton Inn, we had a 3 night stay at the Westin, just across the street. The Westin was much better in every way, and only a tiny bit more expensive.
This was my fiancée and I's first time coming to this hotel. We were only there for one night for an event she had the next morning. Upon walking in the first night, there was no one at the front desk. An employee walking by gave a slight smile then said "check-in!" and a woman walked out from the room behind the desk. To say she was unwelcoming is an understatement. We didn't get a Hello or Welcome, instead a "can I help you?" followed my "name?" "Let me see ID" "Yup". I get people have bad days but she seemed like we were a bother to her and it felt like I was ordering mcdonalds at 2am rather than checking in to a hotel. I was excited for this stay as I saw it had relatively good reviews and had seen we got our room upgraded with Gold status on the app but this was not a good start to the stay. Once our very brief interaction had concluded, we went to our room which was a king bed "suite". This was my first time being upgraded with Gold and having only been in smaller rooms prior, I was excited to see what Hilton "suites" had to offer. Safe to say I was pretty disappointed. I put my key up to the door but before the card could even register, the door just opened. It was a very stiff door that needed help closing on the other side. After that scare and double checking that the door actually locked, the room itself was not worth the title "suite". The bathroom was smaller than I have had in just one bed rooms, the pillow on the "couch" had red stains all over it, and when I went to shower, the water just piled up and it was only then that I realized that our soap bottle was EMPTY. I called down to the woman who still was having a bad day and she said that they have it downstairs at the desk but I have to come get it no one can bring it up. No problem. I got downstairs though to again her just walking out to say "soap bottle", pointed to the bottle on the counter, then walked back into her hiding spot. This was by far the worst check-in/first night experience I have ever had. The breakfast and the morning staff saved the two star rating. Everyone was very nice, especially the ladies working the breakfast, and the gentleman at the desk granted me late checkout of 1 hour later than the regular time which wasn't much but I will take what I can get. We went to our event after a nice breakfast and returned to more trouble with our room. We got upstairs and my key would go green but the door wouldn't unlock or open. I tried the card, the app, my fiancée's card, nothing. I had to go back down to the desk and they called another gentleman who used his magic key and the door opened first try for him. I hope not all suites at Hilton locations are this troublesome. The stand-out positive for this hotel other than the breakfast service is it's location. I will say parking is very easy and plentiful, and it is a rather short walk to a lot of the attractions in the area. We went to the aquarium after we checked out and were able to leave the car in the lot until evening which was nice. I love Hilton, I typically try to find a good one wherever I am and looking at the reviews here I figured I would give it a shot especially those of late but it was rather disappointing all around. Hope this helps those in a similar situation. If we were staying multiple nights, I would look elsewhere.
I had to come in for my Passport. Great location close o everything. The rooms were great, good breakfast, and super convenient parking. It goes until you the next day, so easy to hang around if you don't have to leave right away! I would stay here again.
This hotel and its furniture are clearly aged, but I found it charming. I had a two queen suite with minibar. There was no refrigerator. The space between each of the queen beds and the wall was laughable - we just climbed up from the foot of the bed instead of try to shimmy along sideways to get in and out of bed. Desk staff were friendly and accommodating. Breakfast staff were kind and helpful - when the waffle batter ran out, they were fast to provide more. There was plenty of seating in the breakfast area, and I didn't feel rushed or crowded. The street noise wasn't too bad on the sixth floor, and the view was good, though the windows could stand to be washed on the outside for a better view. But most of all, the location was perfect for attending a concert at The Tabernackle.
