This hotel is praised for its spacious rooms, excellent location near downtown attractions, and the exceptional baked goods and customer service at the onsite breakfast cafe. However, a significant number of recent reviews highlight severe operational issues, including overbooking of reservations, long wait times, and rude/unprofessional staff behaviors.
Attended a conference and needed a last night "add-on" as the primary hotel was SOLD out. I have chosen Hyatt Place many times before due to their cleanliness, standard room layout, nicely updated features, pleasant staff. This hotel was dingy, filthy, uninviting - ridiculous, given the $200+ rate (convention time). The windows allowed drafty air - hotel staff moved me to another room which was a bit less drafty. All rooms at the side of the bar will be exposed to loud music, way beyond midnight. It was kind of the night staff member to offer me earplugs and/ or a glass of wine. Definitely would NOT stay here again. Check-in staff was friendly, check-out staff member was unfriendly and rude. I definitely would not stay again.
This hotel is perfect for those who want to make the most of their resort without needing a luxury (which is offered in most hotels in downtown Atlanta). It offers rare benefits at a resonable price, in particular a bigger selection of breakfast meals, stylish rooms and furniture, and safe air conditioning. As a bonus, our family received a rare discount for booking this hotel on New Year's day. Overall, this hotel is recommendable, especially during holidays and special occasions.
My companion and I were each charged six separate times on our cards. On top of that, we were both charged a $35 parking fee even though we only had one vehicle. I do not believe this was an isolated mistake, since both of us were double charged for the room and had additional unauthorized charges that were only removed after we complained. The room was supposed to cost $120 for the night, yet we were charged over $200. I strongly recommend avoiding this hotel.
I came down to Atlanta to do a job moving a client from atl to manhattan nyc and I stayed in the Hyatt and the front desk hospitality was the best I’ve ever had every single person was over and above kind and helpful all of them are amazing rooms clean location is perfect for being downtown. I would stay here 10 times out of 10 I wish I knew all their names but really every single staff member made my 3 nights there perfect
This hotel has mixed reviews so I was a little nervous to stay but moved forward b/c of it's convenient location to the Fox Theater (I was in town to officiate my nephew's wedding), price & brand (I'm a long time Hyatt Rewards member). This Hyatt Place did not disappoint! As a downtown Atlanta hotel with limited space, they make the most of the common areas which were clean & inviting. The staff were friendly, welcoming & responsive to my questions & needs. Paid parking was behind a locked gate and I felt the security was well worth the fee. Our room was surprisingly spacious, very clean (nothing turned up when I wiped down surfaces) & even included a bonus microwave! There is a significant homeless population downtown but I never observed anyone loitering around the hotel. My wife & I felt safe throughout our stay & would gladly return. Our only request is to please upgrade/expand the fitness center! Very small space with only 4 pieces of equipment.
I can’t say enough about how great this hotel and conference center were. My room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The staff were always helpful, friendly and professional. All my needs were met. The location was fantastic. The price was in line with what one would expect from a higher end hotel like a Hyatt.
Avoid this hotel – completely unprofessional and irresponsible management. I travel frequently for academic and professional conferences (100+ hotel bookings over the past 10 years), and I can confidently say this was the worst hotel experience I have ever had. Despite having a confirmed, prepaid reservation, after waiting for almost an hour in the lobby while the front desk “checked the system,” I was told no rooms were available. They handed me a piece of paper and said they had arranged a room for me at their Buckhead location (10+ miles away from Downtown). Exhausted and needing rest before an important conference presentation, I trusted them and took a Lyft (about $50) to the other hotel — only to be told there was no record of any reservation or arrangement, and advised to call their costumer service. After being on call with their own customer support for about 2 hours, the security told me that I needed to leave the lobby around 2 a.m. I ended up without accommodation until nearly 4:00 a.m., after hours of unnecessary stress and wasted time. The next morning, I was late to my conference, missed networking opportunities, and struggled through my presentation after a sleepless night. Because of this misleading information and completely irresponsible handling, I: -Missed important parts of my professional conference the next morning, including key networking sessions; -Was too exhausted to perform at my best during my presentation; and -Incurred unnecessary transportation and lodging expenses. To make matters worse, the management never responded to my initial follow-up email for days. When I contacted Hyatt Customer Service, they told me that the hotel falsely marked the case as “resolved,” despite no resolution or compensation being provided. This entire ordeal was the result of gross mismanagement, lack of accountability, and complete disregard for guest wellbeing. A confirmed and prepaid booking should mean something — guests should not be stranded in the middle of the night because of hotel errors and then ignored afterward. If you’re considering staying here—don’t. Their lack of professionalism, empathy, and basic responsibility is appalling. Book anywhere else to avoid a similar nightmare.
I can’t speak for the hotel itself as I didn’t do buisness with them, however your night Caucasian shaggy look alike Secuirty is RUDE AS HELL! I came into the establishment at 1:37 am to deliver a Uber Eats order. He told me to place it on a table and leave. I advised him that they are coming down to get it. He proceeded to stand directly next to me as I waited for my customer. When asked why he was so close, he told me to do my job. Moments later the Customer contacted me to inform that she was at Hyatt regency across the street. He tells me that I don’t know what I’m doing and that aim banned from the hotel. You should really look into more professional staff.
Decent hotel with all the usual things you'd expect at this price level. Plenty food at breakfast, good service at the bar / cafe / reception. Maids did a fantastic job of the rooms. Only downside was it's location - it's at the extreme end of the street and there appeared to be some homeless people hanging about the area. Although there was no suggestion on anything untoward it did make the hotel entrance a bit sketchy looking.
Overall great hotel. Breakfast was pretty good it changes everyday. Only thing to be worried about is the water pressure (we stayed at the 10th floor- their highest floor) and it was like they installed the low-flow shower heads from Seinfeld. Room was clean.
