The Ellis Hotel in Atlanta receives mixed reviews, with many guests praising its friendly and attentive staff, particularly those in valet and the cafe. Several recent guests highlighted exceptional service during travel disruptions, while others noted concerns about the hotel’s aging facilities and inconsistencies in amenities. Despite the positive feedback regarding staff and location, some reviewers found the rooms to be outdated and lacking the expected luxury of a Tribute Portfolio property.
The reviews I’ve read seem so misleading but maybe I caught them on a bad weekend! When I arrived. The Key Card system was down so anytime I had to get to my room and I had to be escorted up to my room and let in. Valet parking is 55$ per day but failed to inform guest they stop valet at 12am. Had to go out but could not retrieve my car. Even after failure to get it valeted, the front desk contacted valet management to just retrieve the key and the valet manager did not know the password to the valet box which is troublesome to me. Room was decent. Small and out dated but clean! Just not what you’d expect from a 4 star hotel in downtown Atlanta. The AC hotel down the street was a lot better.
Troy, McKayla, and Kristen made my stay at the Ellis Hotel exceptional. Their professionalism, kindness, and attention to detail truly stood out. They went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect, and their hospitality made the experience unforgettable. Additionally the valet service attendant Raheem went above and beyond as well, not just regarding exceptional service, but for my safety as well. These individuals should be recognized by their integrity and work ethic.
Love everything about the Ellis! It’s a small unassuming boutique hotel through Marriott. Its history goes back 110 years and has the distinction of being the first high rise in downtown Atlanta. The rooms, while smaller, are well appointed with luxe finishes, quiet and had a beautiful downtown view. The true gem however is the staff! Everyone we encountered went above and beyond to make our stay lovely. The valet, James, retrieved our car several times and each time picked up our previous conversation and treated us like family. Treat yourself to a bit of history and luxury and stay with “friends” at the Ellis!
Everyone that works here is extremely kind and helpful. They are quick to action when you need help with something, and go above and beyond to find what you need. One member in particular I would like to shoutout is Jamie in the cafe, she made my breakfast drinks with love every morning. Her high energy and charm was a pleasure to be around every morning on my trip. Overall great place to stay.
Very Disappointed – Not What You Expect from a Tribute Portfolio Hotel I was very disappointed with my stay at this property. This hotel does not reflect the standards typically associated with the Tribute Portfolio brand. The overall experience was far below expectations the service was average at best, and the hotel itself felt more like a basic motel than a boutique property. The space is extremely small, lacking the character and quality you’d expect from a true boutique hotel. There were no meaningful amenities, and as a Platinum member, I received no recognition or benefits, which was particularly frustrating. If you’re expecting a true Tribute Portfolio experience, you will likely be let down. This property falls significantly short and feels much more like a low-tier, budget option. I cannot recommend it and would not stay again.
Had a wonderful 3 day stay at the Ellis! Izzy at the front desk was excellent! Friendly, professional, and helpful! The bed and room were comfortable. Location was excellent! Will definately stay here again!
My partner, friend, and I stayed here for DragonCon 2025 and loved it so very much. It is basically host-but-not-host hotel I would say given how the staff and everyone there were all DragonCon hyped as well. It is right next to action for the Con with an incredibly short and easy walk without any of the quirks of Atlanta necessarily. Quiet rooms and always available elevators was fantastic. The mini-fridge was awesome to have as well. The rooms are nothing massive of course but they are cozy and allow for enough storage of belongings. The food options at the café are nice, but again nothing groundbreaking. Some DCon themes going on which is nice. It is right across the street from the Ritz, and a skip away from multiple restaurant options as well. MARTA is right there as well for those that may need the option, but again the walk to the Con can barely be called one considering how close down the street it is from all the action. Reason for the 5 star review is because this hotel was exactly what you would want to have after a late night rave or just a mid-day walk back and nap. Great customer service, and a sudo "legacy" style email for prior stay members is sent for the following year for DragonCon. Looking forward to continuous stays there.
Our stay here was wonderful mostly thanks to the amazing staff. James was so kind and immediately became our kids’ best friend while we were there. He also made sure our car was available ASAP when needed and made sure we had what we needed in our room. Michelle was wonderful as well and so sweet to us. Walter at the front desk was fantastic too. Nothing but good things to say about these people! We will have to come back and visit for sure.
Great stay here. My first time. Friendly staff, including valet. Curious about the room cleaning.... They made the bed, and replaced used towels after my first day (which I wish they didn't), But they didn't replace the dirty cups or replenish the coffee supplies. Maybe just an oversight? Would stay here again. Very quiet.
We very much enjoyed our stay here! Very clean rooms. The area very walkable with several restaurants nearby. The staff was extremely pleasant and accommodating! Walter was WONDERFUL! He went out of his way to help my group have rooms on the same floor which we very much appreciated! Also the hotel is very safe with valet parking available, and badge in entrance only. Definitely recommend. Also, they have a Starbucks in the lobby so that was nice in the morning.
