The Fairfield Inn & Suites Atlanta Downtown offers a convenient location for exploring downtown attractions, with guests particularly praising the friendly and helpful staff. However, recent reviews highlight significant concerns regarding cleanliness, safety, and outdated facilities, alongside issues with parking and inconsistent service.
The valet parking is a little confusing because it's in such a small area but the employees are great. Everyone we talked to at the counter was friendly and helpful. Our room was giant and the AC was working beautifully. Was able to walk to our concert, I would absolutely stay at this property again. Breakfast was large and delicious!
Location is NOT GREAT pay a little more and stay in an area a little nicer that’s safer. The hotel was always full of homeless people hanging out outside begging for money and watching you and as a mom traveling alone with a 17 month old I didn’t feel comfortable walking outside the hotel at all. Parking at the hotel is $55 a night which is outrageous - I’ve stayed at much nicer hotels that didn’t charge such a crazy amount for parking. There’s a parking garage across the street that charges $30 for parking and I parked the car there one night but walking there and back I wasn’t comfortable doing after the first day because the area is really not great. Very run down and sketchy people and full of homeless hanging around. The hotel itself was ok, the room’s spacious which was nice, but a little outdated. I had a BIG PROBLEM checking in to the hotel and the staff at the front desk were so rude will not be staying here again. The hotel is NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY at all! I called before making the reservation to ask if to Enya’s cribs for babies and they said yes. When we checked in they told me they had NO CRIBS AVAILABLE so we got to the hotel and my baby had no safe place to sleep. The guy who checked us in was so rude and was an absolute jerk. He told me to put the baby on the pull out sofa to sleep, that’s not safe for a baby of 17 months to sleep in. They LIED and said cribs were available for our stay but they didn’t have them and we only found out after we got to the hotel with our baby. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! Hotel is not family friendly at all!
The hotel is located in Downtown Atlanta, and it's 15 minutes walking distance from the Centennial Park, World of Coca-Cola and the Georgia Aquarium. The Georgia Stste University is also within walking distance. The King size room was very cozy, complimentary breakfast had the regular offers, not bad. Staff was friendly. The cons of this hotel: It's located close to the Atlanta Recovery Center, so there are a lot of funny characters walking about which can be quite concerning. There is also a lounge, Utopia within 50 feet away. They stay open till late with loud music that could disturb your sleep.
The room was the best part about my stay. I showed up early, they said to come back in an hour. I came back and they said I couldn't check in for 2 more hours. While sitting waiting for my room, I saw someone else come up and they got a room. The customer service game is weak and needs improvement.
I reserved a room 9 days in advance of arrival. I got a call same day of arrival verifying I was coming. I got there that night to check in only to find out my room had been given away and that there were no other rooms available. This location isn't the best either as there is tons of ppl walking around the outside of the hotel and there is a stage a football field or so away playing loud music you could hear over 2 blocks away.
TLDR: The hotel is not worth the price. Pay a little more for a nicer place. Pros - Interactions with staff were pleasant - Location was desirable for my visit - It felt reasonably secure with diligence. - Quite a bit of well done graffiti art in the immediate vicinity. Cons - Continental breakfast was incredibly sparse and mostly microwaved or prepackaged products. The only eggs were cold hard boiled eggs or part of the jimmy dean microwave sandwiches (which were only available one out of three times). The oatmeal was cold and was solidifying in the vat. The cup of orange juice I poured for myself had multiple fruit flies floating in it. Sealed yogurts and waffle maker were a highlight. - The king bed had a queen sized top sheet instead of a fitted sheet and I found myself waking up on the mattress cover the first night. - The room was not cleaned sufficiently: dry urine on the toilet seat, hair in the bathroom, and the remotes were sticky. - Neither of my room TVs were working and contact with the front desk did not result in a resolution during my three night stay. - The shower was slow to drain and dripped for quite a while once finished. - Both shower and faucet were not secure on the wall with quite a bit if wiggle and no cover at the wall opening. This was concerning because moisture may be accumulating on the interior of the wall and creating a perfect environment for mold, especially without any exhaust fan in the restroom. - The couch was uncomfortable and would sink quite a ways to the ground. - My microwave was missing the element that would turn the plate. - The AC was set to 65 before I arrived to cool overnight while it struggled in daytime hours. - My room door was not self closing which may be a security issue. - While the physical location of the hotel was great for access to the stadium and GWCC, there was a high amount of homeless and vacant storefronts in the area. - My room had one window in the bedroom, so the suite was actually quite dark with mostly different temperature (mismatched cool and warm bulbs) lamp lighting in the sitting area. - Internal sound proofing was nonexistent so that hallway noise was clearly audible. Lessened in the bedroom and exterior noise was reasonably muted. - Generally, this hotel is old.
The only thing we liked was The Valet Staff. The Valet Staff was very nice and eager to help. They even recommended other parking options. We Ran from this Hotel as soon as we pulled up. We saw 3 Huge Rats right in front of the door. Homeless people hanging around the door. It was very scary because one homeless woman screamed at us. We decided to find another hotel, so we couldn’t get a refund which is find. But for some reason they charged me for food packaging/extra charges even though we did not stay there. The location was horrible and it smelled so bad walking in there.
I chose this hotel because it was 5 minutes away from an event we were attending. I'll start by saying the staff while we were there. Was polite, upbeat, energetic, and positive. Unfortunately whoever I had talked to on the phone. Had a nasty attitude when trying to explain an issue. Which is why I gave the service 4 stars. Rooms: We stayed in room 1206, The heater didn't work the entire time. So we stayed bundled up the whole time. The mini fridge is broken and unbalanced. The plug outlets do work, but they are loose. So make sure to double-check that your charger didn't fall out. Location: In my opinion is not in the safest or best area. There's a lot of homeless surrounding the area. Also if you aren't paying close attention. You'll easily drive right by it. I wouldn't recommend this area for women traveling alone. Or for big families in my opinion. Parking: THEY CHARGE YOU $50 DAILY. This is not specified on the Marriott Bonvoy app. Here's where they get you. There is $30 self-parking but it's about a 15-minute walk away from the hotel. Which again isn't safe considering the area. So if you're like us traveling with a lot of luggage. You'll want to do valet which again is $50 PER DAY that you stay. So for 2 cars & 2nights, we were charged an extra $200 on top of our 2nights stay. Building: It's a historical building and looks decent inside. Unfortunately due to how the "parking lot" is set up. On top of the fact, there is a flight of stairs as soon as you walk in. You can't bring down a bag cart to your vehicle. That is if you can find a bag cart to carry up your belongings. Then there is the fact there are only 2 elevators for 17 floors. We will not be coming back to this Marriot location. Not worth paying $729.04 for a 2 night stay.
Came for a concert. It was walkable to the State Farm arena. Breakfast was adequate, nothing special. The hotel is located on a weird corner with a dead end. Pulling in to valet park can be a challenge. Also twice my car smelled like weed which we did alert a manager. Other than that the rooms were nice and we liked our stay.
I recently stayed at this Marriott family hotel, and while it wasn’t a terrible experience, it definitely didn’t live up to the brand’s standards. First off, the location felt odd, with a lot of homeless individuals outside the hotel, and the smell of urine in the air was unpleasant. Inside, the issues continued—our room’s air conditioning barely worked, and the shower drain was clogged, causing the tub to fill up while I showered. The sink also drained poorly. On top of that, the elevator was incredibly slow; I once waited nearly 10 minutes for it! On the bright side, the staff was fantastic. Every person I encountered was friendly and helpful, despite seeming overwhelmed by the conditions. I genuinely think they deserve a better work environment. Overall, I expected more from a Marriott property, and while the staff was great, the hotel’s management needs to step up.
