The Starling Atlanta Midtown, Curio Collection by Hilton offers a stylish Midtown location with convenient access to dining and entertainment, and is known for its vibrant atmosphere. However, recent reviews highlight inconsistencies in service quality, cleanliness concerns, and outdated room features alongside positive feedback regarding friendly staff and a lively bar scene. Parking costs add a significant expense.
Online pictures made it seem nicer than it was overall. Staff was friendly and great proximity to good and drinks. Housekeeping could do a better job for sure. Bathroom had hair in shower and around shower, makeup remover pad in corner of the bathroom, etc. Didn't feel like I had a clean room overall but did feel like I had clean sheets. Bed and pillows super comfortable. Building in the room had decent amount of wear and tear like he bottom of the slider door being worn to a 1" radius from use, laminate on desk bubbling, etc. Next time in Atlanta I'll probably try to find something newer.
I've stayed here and enjoyed the room but especially, the bar and lounge - great service, great staff. And the gourmet food court right next door is fantastic!
I’ve stayed at this property since it operated as the W, and it was always my preferred hotel in Atlanta. Unfortunately, this was by far the most frustrating and disappointing experience I’ve had here. Valet is $90 per night, yet the phone went unanswered multiple times, resulting in unnecessary Uber rides and excessive wait times. When you’re paying premium rates, basic responsiveness shouldn’t be an issue. I booked a spa service to relax, only to wait 45 minutes for an elevator afterward. That completely defeats the purpose of a 90-minute de-stress session. Out of the entire staff, I can count on one hand fewer than five people who were genuinely kind, allowed me to speak without interruption, or didn’t display an unacceptable attitude. Hospitality should never feel like an inconvenience to the staff. To top it off, the room condition was unacceptable — two large cracks, visible dust, and a broken toilet seat. That’s simply not the standard this property used to uphold. I sincerely hope management takes the time to respond or reach out. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this hotel, and I won’t be returning.
This experience for my 44th birthday was beyond amazing. It began at check-in with Anthony. Full of energy, personality, and outstanding hospitality, which is hard to find. He gave my wife an upgrade as she is a Diamond member, and even gave us a handwritten card after checkin as he knew the staycation was to celebrate my birthday. Valet was awesome as well, very responsive. The room was good, sink drained slow, but it had an amazing skyline view and the outstanding service made up for it. We looked for Anthony at checkout to thank him for his hospitality, but he was off. This is our thank you Anthony and we will be booking again soon.
Phenomenal Experience - Front Desk and The Commons Breakfast February 2026 Stayed here while celebrating my birthday. Regina at the front desk was amazing and so helpful with directions and recommendations and made the stay so enjoyable. The Commons Restaurant was delicious and such a nice departure for y oh e standard hotel breakfast. The staff was phenomenal when with it being packed. Our waitress, Nicole, both mornings remembered our drinks and preferences from the day before and just brought such joy and brightness to the mornings. Briana was so helpful and kind as well. The entire breakfast staff, Briana, Nicole, Tyler & Hanna, were gracious and made sure the food was hot on the Buffett and that everyone had what they needed. I travel quite often both domestically and internationally, and rarely write reviews. Can’t remember the last time I did, but the staff mentioned here deserves the recognition for excellent service. Thank you especially to Regina (front desk) and Nicole & Briana (breakfast) for helping us find a little piece of calm and sanctuary during the chaos of Valentines weekend (and cheerleaders everywhere ?)
Stayed here for 6 nights on a work trip. Very nice smart hotel with lovely front desk staff. Good sized smart room which is nicely decorated. Big floor to ceiling windows with net curtains as well as normal curtains. I was lucky to get some amazing sunrises from my room (when it wasn't foggy!) Good sized bathroom with nice shower. Plenty of sockets/USB around the room and big TV Close to many restaurants Few minor issues with the room though: Not enough storage for clothes is you're staying for more than a few days. There is a hanger area but not very high so clothes touch the shelf below. Not enough places to hang towels in the bathroom to dry. Nowhere to hang coats. Could easily add some hooks just inside the room. No lights on the ceiling so room not bright enough. Needs a light at the desk area as well if you're trying to work. WiFi not that fast However I would happily stay here again next time I'm in Atlanta.
Great location and nice valet & check-in staff, we stayed for 3nights. The Curio collection property in Asheville was much nicer. I would not return to this property. Nice design but it’s run down, the furniture needs to be reupholstered in the rooms and common area. Wallpaper is peeling from the drywall. One of the pendant lights in the common area, the metal portion has come out from the ceiling outlet. Breakfast is nothing notable, go elsewhere. The cleaning staff does not empty the trash bins in the rooms. Walls are thin. The valet area had a car obstructing the entrance. We had to turn around to safety enter the driveway at night, navigating the other cars and pedestrians on the busy cross section. The car was there for at least 12 hours; when we came into the hotel at 9pm and when we checked out at 9am. Seems like a big liability.
I had the pleasure of staying at the Starling! Service was outstanding! Latrell and Regina both were amazing and were definitely fresh smiling faces for the hotel. The guy in valet with pretty eyes was very accommodating and the guy who brought our stuff to our room was so helpful when we had to do a room swap! The hotel as a whole is beautiful and has so much to offer! From the food court to the movies being connected! The rooms?… it seems like they need a tad bit of TLC. The shower head was coming off, making water splash everywhere. The TV mount was faulty, and the beds HARD as bricks! Don’t get me wrong, when we called engineering, they came immediately and were so amazing! I believe Jay and a bigger older guy that came up to assist! All in all, I give the hotel, 6/10.
Great price for the location. You can self park in the adjoining parking deck (Colony Square) and, conveniently, the red floor has a door (to the right of the police station) that leads to the lobby. The car stayed parked Friday and Saturday night for a $30 charge on Sunday morning. Valet is $69 + tax per day. The rooms were clean and spacious. I especially liked the floor to ceiling window wall overlooking the city. All of the staff we encountered were very helpful and pleasant. The bar and restaurant were quite lively in the evenings and looked inviting. There are many restaurants and bars in close proximity and it is walking distance to Piedmont Park and the botanical gardens. We will stay here again.
I am extremely disappointed with how my cancellation was handled and the level of unprofessionalism I experienced from this hotel. I spent the entire day trying to call the front desk to cancel a reservation due to a COVID related illness. Each time, the phone was answered and then immediately disconnected. After multiple attempts, my call was eventually rerouted to a customer service center, which finally connected me with a manager named Venice. Unfortunately, the interaction with Venice was unacceptable. She refused to provide even the first initial of her last name, was rude and argumentative, and showed no empathy whatsoever. When I explained that my husband had tested positive for COVID using an at-home test, she demanded proof in order to issue a refund. When I explained that there was no official documentation to provide, she compared my situation to her needing proof to call out of work which was inappropriate and completely unreasonable. We were essentially told that unless we provided proof that we cannot reasonably obtain, we would not receive a refund. This forced us into the position of either losing our money or traveling while potentially exposing others to COVID, which is irresponsible and alarming. We are frequent guests and have stayed here many times in the past, but based on this experience, we will not be returning after this stay. The lack of professionalism, empathy, and basic customer service from both front desk staff and management was unacceptable.
