The Starling Atlanta, Curio Collection receives mixed reviews, with many guests praising its stylish design, convenient Midtown location, and friendly staff. However, recurring concerns include inconsistent room cleanliness, issues with water pressure, high parking fees, and occasional maintenance problems. Recent guest experiences highlight a decline in service quality compared to previous stays.
Gorgeous hotel! The rooms are very modern and clean. Food and drinks are great and the vibe is amazing. Parking is a little frustrating as it isn't exactly clear where they validate and don't when you're visiting. As long as you know that they are not related at all to the parking garage, you and your guests will have a great and seamless experience.
Staff is friendly. Rooms are very small. Food at the restaurant is misrepresented, waygu burger and hand cut ff? Ff out of a bag and a burger that is Burger King quality. Asked for late checkout it was approved for to the room and my key didn’t work. Seems that hotel bar is drastically under staffed. Food and decor is mid. Hotel seems dirty. Diamond club members and this spot is very very mid. Again staff was nice.
I've stayed at this location multiple times when I'm in town for business over the last few years and its better than most in the area. But the issues I've experienced consistently here during most of/all of my stays shouldnt happen at this price point. Every time I've stayed here, Ive had issues with either the water pressure, the water temperature or both. Ive stayed in different rooms and even different style room (single king, double queen, etc), and I've had the same problem. The rooms use a waterfall type shower head and it seems like the only thing getting the water out of the head is gravity, and its just kind of falling on you. The temp issue also seems to be random, as most mornings I had hot water, but if I showered in the afternoon/early evening I wouldnt. Something I've also dealt with on multiple floors is humming/whirring noises coming from the interior walls/hallway. Its most likely a ventilation system but its running constantly and can be difficult to drown out. Just something to keep in mind. This is to be expected for this location, but prices on absolutely everything here are outrageous. Garage parking is $70 a night. Cocktails start at $18. Snacks at the store in the lobby are insane. A bottle of water cost $10. To deal with upcharges like this when paying over $300 a night for a room is kind of ridiculous. As far as the good goes though, the beds have always been comfortable. And the times I've stayed multiple nights, housekeeping has always been great at keeping everything fresh. The hotel staff in general is always great all around. The breakfast buffet is also good (wish it was included in the cost of the room, but the extra fee is worth it). The location is great too. Its attached to Colony Square and you're minutes from just about everything you need. This is still my go-to hotel when Im in the area. I just wish there were less issues at the prices theyre charging.
This is my third time staying at this location. I normally enjoy my stay. My most recent experience staying here was great! During check-In Tatyana was truly amazing! She helped with updating my room location, provided details about services/benefits, and made sure my mobile key was active. Thank you again! She really set a positive tone for my experience!
Online pictures made it seem nicer than it was overall. Staff was friendly and great proximity to good and drinks. Housekeeping could do a better job for sure. Bathroom had hair in shower and around shower, makeup remover pad in corner of the bathroom, etc. Didn't feel like I had a clean room overall but did feel like I had clean sheets. Bed and pillows super comfortable. Building in the room had decent amount of wear and tear like he bottom of the slider door being worn to a 1" radius from use, laminate on desk bubbling, etc. Next time in Atlanta I'll probably try to find something newer.
I've stayed here and enjoyed the room but especially, the bar and lounge - great service, great staff. And the gourmet food court right next door is fantastic!
I’ve stayed at this property since it operated as the W, and it was always my preferred hotel in Atlanta. Unfortunately, this was by far the most frustrating and disappointing experience I’ve had here. Valet is $90 per night, yet the phone went unanswered multiple times, resulting in unnecessary Uber rides and excessive wait times. When you’re paying premium rates, basic responsiveness shouldn’t be an issue. I booked a spa service to relax, only to wait 45 minutes for an elevator afterward. That completely defeats the purpose of a 90-minute de-stress session. Out of the entire staff, I can count on one hand fewer than five people who were genuinely kind, allowed me to speak without interruption, or didn’t display an unacceptable attitude. Hospitality should never feel like an inconvenience to the staff. To top it off, the room condition was unacceptable — two large cracks, visible dust, and a broken toilet seat. That’s simply not the standard this property used to uphold. I sincerely hope management takes the time to respond or reach out. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this hotel, and I won’t be returning.
This experience for my 44th birthday was beyond amazing. It began at check-in with Anthony. Full of energy, personality, and outstanding hospitality, which is hard to find. He gave my wife an upgrade as she is a Diamond member, and even gave us a handwritten card after checkin as he knew the staycation was to celebrate my birthday. Valet was awesome as well, very responsive. The room was good, sink drained slow, but it had an amazing skyline view and the outstanding service made up for it. We looked for Anthony at checkout to thank him for his hospitality, but he was off. This is our thank you Anthony and we will be booking again soon.
I had a very disappointing stay at The Starling Midtown Atlanta. The hotel looks nice in pictures, but the actual experience was far from what I expected. The room was not properly cleaned, there was visible dust on surfaces, and the bathroom didn’t feel sanitary. The bed was uncomfortable, and the pillows felt cheap. For a hotel that markets itself as upscale, the overall condition felt neglected. Customer service was also lacking. The front desk staff were not very welcoming or helpful when I brought up concerns. It felt like guest satisfaction wasn’t a priority. On top of that, the walls were thin, and I could hear noise from the hallway and nearby rooms late into the night, making it hard to get proper rest. For the price they charge, I expected much better quality and service. I would not stay here again and would not recommend it to anyone visiting Atlanta.
Phenomenal Experience - Front Desk and The Commons Breakfast February 2026 Stayed here while celebrating my birthday. Regina at the front desk was amazing and so helpful with directions and recommendations and made the stay so enjoyable. The Commons Restaurant was delicious and such a nice departure for y oh e standard hotel breakfast. The staff was phenomenal when with it being packed. Our waitress, Nicole, both mornings remembered our drinks and preferences from the day before and just brought such joy and brightness to the mornings. Briana was so helpful and kind as well. The entire breakfast staff, Briana, Nicole, Tyler & Hanna, were gracious and made sure the food was hot on the Buffett and that everyone had what they needed. I travel quite often both domestically and internationally, and rarely write reviews. Can’t remember the last time I did, but the staff mentioned here deserves the recognition for excellent service. Thank you especially to Regina (front desk) and Nicole & Briana (breakfast) for helping us find a little piece of calm and sanctuary during the chaos of Valentines weekend (and cheerleaders everywhere ?)
