Guests consistently praise the Renaissance Atlanta Midtown Hotel for its ideal Midtown location, welcoming atmosphere, and generally friendly staff, but report significant variability in customer service quality and maintenance issues ranging fromevice malfunctions to dirty rooms.
The hotel staff were friendly and polite. However, my king bed was not ready for check in until 5pm due to laundry service company issue and linen not be delivered on time.
I don’t understand how this place has so many good reviews. The room is clean and neat(so cheap mattress), but not the customer service I experienced. The first thing I was told as I stepped into this hotel was that “hot water is not running.” The receptionist had an attitude while I was checking in. I got a twenty something discount card for a meal. That was only because I asked for it. She would have not offered it. The next day, it was a different lady. She acted like she doesn’t know what’s going on with the hotel issue. She asked me to check the water if it’s fixed or not. She didn’t even know if the issue was solved. The two black ladies I spoke to do not have good customer service. Also, housekeepers NEVER came to the room to clean. We had to ask for towels and water bottles everyday because the housekeeper never made an attempt to clean the room. Terrible experience. I do not ever want to come back here.
Great stay and caring staff. There was a power outage that occurred on our last night. My partner and I met Stephen and Blue in the lobby at 6 something in the morning- impressed that two managers were here that early. Sandy and Paul at the desk was great and offered us muffins and coffee while we waited for the power and water to return. These things happen but having a caring staff like this is hard to find these days.
I want to start this review off by stating we traveled over 4 hours to get to this property amd had been communicating at the beginning of the trip with the on ground team on the app of estimated arrival time which was well after check-in (typically @4:00pm & we arrived after 9:00pm). The front desk employee (Autumn was the rudest person I had ever encountered for a hotel property) from the moment we arrived she acted if she was shocked that we had booked the Penthouse Suite and then things went down hill to not having the room cleaned to telling me they could verify the card the day of prior to me arriving to changing my reservations to a small room for my family of five and thought I was going to except that vs the Penthouse Suite when we needed the space because housekeeping failed to clean it. If it wasn't for a manager on shift Dalease that admitted to the mistake and said she would go clean the room and it would only take 15 and placed us in a room so we could at least order food and relax a bit things would have been much worse. We'll the 15 minutes turned into 1hour and the room we were placed phone didn't work so we couldn't order room service and when I went back downstairs Autumn who had a great opportunity to fix things after she know the manager let me know the room hadn't been cleaned and it wasn't our fault at all why she switched the rooms was rude again and failed to help on how we could order food but here came that same Manager Dalease to the rescue again. When things couldn't get any worst I check to see my final bill it was never sent or updated in my app. They had changed my room reservation from Penthouse to it was showing the temporary room they placed us in to now we were back home and the reservation had been completely deleted. I never received a bill via email.and had to call the hotel to get a final sent to me so I could now get the Marriott to update it to my app. This trip had so many crooks and turns starting with terrible customer service from Autumn which is why Management should be very careful who they have at the front desk and are the first people who interact with the guest. Your attitude can make a difference in a guest experience going from bad to worst especially traveling with children that late at night and they're tired, hungry, and sleepy. Please be mindful and do better as if the pandemic didn't show us all something every industry need each other to make it and attitudes and nad customer service is no place in hospitality. People are doing the best they can already during hard times. Never even apologized (Autumn)!
This was the worst Marriott stay I’ve had in 1,100+ nights as a Titanium Elite member. I paid for the night of Dec 18, yet the hotel acted like having my room “ready” at 6 a.m. the next day was a favor. It wasn’t—it was what I already paid for. The room was unacceptable: loud mechanical noise from the toilet made it impossible to sleep, and the view was a rooftop full of AC units. Management never contacted me despite my explicit request, even though the front desk associate assured me they would. Most concerning: I fell in the shower due to a dangerous setup and injured my knee—something that has never happened in more than 2,500 hotel stays. My husband witnessed the aftermath. This is a serious safety issue that needs immediate correction. The hotel’s response was to offer a refund for only one night, which is wildly inadequate given the noise, the unsafe conditions, and the complete lack of management engagement. Marriott loyalists deserve better. I cannot recommend this property until these issues are addressed.
Special shootout to Brandi and Mandy works in the restaurant super helpful and great personality. The hotel stay is amazing too. This is my 3rd or 4th stay and generally very busy during GT football games, but quality of service is good. Valet parking is $50 per day way too much. That is my only complaint.
I had a fantastic stay at this hotel! The location in Midtown is perfect. The lobby was incredibly cozy and inviting, setting a great tone right away. Every staff member I encountered was polite and went out of their way to be accommodating. Our room was spotless, and the city view was absolutely stunning. We didn’t have any issues with noise while we were there. The hotel was very quiet. Although I didn't have a chance to try the breakfast, the food from the hotel restaurant was delicious. I would definitely choose this hotel again if I return to Midtown Atlanta.
Service was outstanding. Room was cleaned daily and the atmosphere was awesome. I enjoyed sitting in the lobby in the evenings by the firepla ce. They do offer valet parking but to be honest you can use the parking garage next door for half the price.
I suggested this Hotel to friends visiting. Never again. They checked in NOV 7th. Not happy and today is NOV 8th. The Hotel nickel & dimes you for EVERYTHING! The restaurant service is below par and there is a sir-charge for everything. An Omelet is $21.00, If you want protein, $2.00ea and vegetables are $1.00ea! The buffet is $31.00! If you ask the Server for a spoon and cream after receiving your coffee....it's like they are aggravated! A Maintenance person on duty came in, loaded a plate high-sky from the buffet! You pay $15.00 for Internet until you check out. $60.00 a day parking. $40.00+ for early check in. The Front Desk Staff is not very friendly. If you don't "look a certain way" it seems you will not be afforded a High-Level Guest Customer Service. On a good note: The toilet seat in the room was broke and Maintenance showed up in 15 minutes to fix it. I would look around at other properties before staying at The Renaissance. It certainly does not live up to the Name or Service delivered when it first opened. I'm embarrassed for my out-of-town guests.
Nice hotel, great location. We thought the beds were very hard, pillows hard, and the bedding not great. The toilets are very low. The room was clean and pleasant.
