Recurring inconsistencies in cleanliness and maintenance result in a mixed guest experience. While guests frequently praise the helpfulness of specific staff members and the location's accessibility, several recent guests report grave sanitation issues, including pest infestations and unclean bedding.
This hotel is the perfect stay! Chris was so helpful and accommodated all of my needs! This was the perfect staycation in the city. If you’re looking for an upscale, yet relaxing vibe, I would highly recommend! I will definitely be staying here again!
Unacceptable Service and Disgraceful Room Conditions I stayed at this hotel for my daughter’s cheer competition, and it was a disaster from start to finish. Despite booking and paying in advance for two double beds, we were checked into a single King room without any prior notification. When we raised the issue, the front desk agent, Tasha, was incredibly unprofessional, condescending, and shifted all blame to "the new guy." Since there was no manager on duty, we were eventually offered a King suite with a pull-out sofa. The conditions were unlivable: the room clearly hadn't been cleaned in months, the chair and pull-out mattress were heavily stained, and it took an hour just to get linens. To make matters worse, the hotel moved our personal belongings to a different room the next day without our consent or presence. When we finally got into a double room, the "clean" sheets were covered in dog hair. Even the replacement linens provided were full of pet hair. Between the lack of basic toiletries and the rude staff, this was the worst hotel experience I’ve had. I will be reporting this property to the cheer agency to ensure they are removed from the recommended list. Avoid at all costs.
I am extremely disappointed with my recent stay. I booked a double bed room months in advance, specifically because I was traveling with two children and another adult. Upon arrival, I was given a king-size room instead, which did not accommodate my family comfortably. When I questioned this, the front desk woman name Tasha told rooms are given on a “first come, first serve” basis, which makes no sense considering I secured my reservation well in advance. To make matters worse, when we entered the room, the television screen displayed “Welcome Jennifer Robinson.” Clearly that isn’t my name. This immediately made me question whether proper cleaning and resetting procedures were even followed. The room itself was filthy. The chairs were visibly stained, and the overall condition felt very unsanitary and poorly maintained. Then was moved to a new room the next day and the staff moved my things without any consent or communication what so ever so we go back to the old room with the key and all of our belongings was gone even items that was stored in the fridge! Totally unacceptable!!!!!The new room it wasn’t clean there was hair all over, inside the sheets covers, dog hair and dog eye boogers on the sheets. My child has a pet allergy to Dogs so this is unacceptable. The bath and body dispenser in the bathroom was full with water so no soaps. The pool was open and not cleaned. Traveling with children, cleanliness is extremely important to me, and this experience did not meet even basic expectations. Additionally, the experience at the front desk only made matters worse. The lady name Tasha assisting us was extremely rude and repeatedly rolled her eyes during the conversation. She was contradicting in her responses, not helpful in resolving the issue, and appeared completely indifferent to our concerns. There was no effort made to accommodate us or even show understanding of the situation. The “NEW” guy that checked me in Tasha kept repeating saying he was new and how it was his fault. Tasha was very careless and had a dismissive attitude, this was very unprofessional and unacceptable. Overall, the staff at this hotel gave the impression that they did not enjoy their jobs. Even something as simple as requesting additional linens for the room seemed to be treated as an inconvenience. As paying guests, basic requests should not feel like a burden to staff. I am very dissatisfied with how this situation was handled. Corporate will be notified. I will not be recommending this hotel to anyone, and I sincerely hope management takes these concerns seriously so future guests do not experience the same issues.
First of all, the location was perfect for midtown Atlanta. Right in the center of everything and within walking distance from a great breakfast place. The room was exceptionally clean. And I have to say something about the extra nice folks that greeted me especially Chris the manager was super helpful as I was not familiar with the area. His recommendation for breakfast (ahem.. Silver Skillet) was on point! (Thanks Chris!). For you next stay in Atlanta I highly recommend staying here!! enjoy!
It’s gross. Stains on furniture, blood stain on pillow, stain on comforter, the fridge was not clean, body wash bottle in shower completely empty, hair from a different occupant in tub, damage to outside property. When I informed reception didn’t even apologize which is worrisome that they likely get this feedback all the time and don’t care. I asked 3 different people for the fridge to be cleaned, new sheets, and body wash to be filled. None of that was done.
I recently stayed at the Sonesta Select Atlanta Midtown Georgia Tech, and unfortunately this was one of the most uncomfortable hotel experiences I’ve ever had. I feel obligated to share this so future guests know what they’re walking into. 1. Multiple Bugs Inside My Room From the moment I arrived, I kept finding stink bugs and small beetle-like insects throughout the room — on the windows, curtains, carpet, near the sofa, and even around the bed area. I removed several myself, and more kept appearing. This is absolutely unacceptable for a hotel at this price point. 2. Dead Bugs Embedded in the Carpet & Window Area It was clear the room had not been cleaned properly for a long time. There were dead bugs crushed into the carpet and stuck in corners and along the window frame. That alone is a major sanitation red flag. 3. Stained Furniture The couch had a noticeable brown stain on the back cushion, which made it impossible to sit there comfortably. Again — how did this pass housekeeping inspection? 4. Trash & Clothing Scattered Outside the Window When I looked outside, there were discarded clothes, underwear, and trash scattered around the gravel directly outside my room. It looked like the area hadn’t been maintained in ages, which only added to the sense of poor management and neglect. 5. Overall Lack of Cleanliness and Quality Control Between the pests, the stained furniture, and the neglected outdoor area, the hotel did not feel sanitary, safe, or properly maintained. This was nowhere near the standard expected from Sonesta, especially at a Midtown property. ? Bottom Line: I genuinely regret choosing this hotel and would not recommend it to anyone until they address the serious cleanliness and pest issues. For travelers visiting Atlanta — especially the Georgia Tech area — there are far better, cleaner, and more reliable options nearby.
Tasha at the front desk was amazing going beyond her primary job responsibility with a smiling face. Very helpful and as reliable as the sunrise. Just watched her assist a elderly man that was rude and she remained so professional . Not a very experienced hotel goer but the place was great to me.
102$ for the smallest room no lights ONLY 4 small lamps in room. THE BED WAS HARD AS A BRICK!I promise you I’m not even exaggerating. Like wow! I’ve been to tons of hotels. Even way cheaper ones and the beds were nothing like this brick of a bed with a mattress topper on it. I confronted the staff at checkout. She claims she has never heard of that before. She seemed shocked to hear the things I am saying. There is no way lol. But whatever. You have a business to run. You have say what you have to say. She did say she will get maintenance to look at the room. Girl he is going to have to do more than look. He is going to need to install and actual room light in there. When I was putting my makeup on my husband had to shine a flashlight so I could actually see precisely. Oh let me mention the food I bough wasted bc the refrigerator did not work either. It was warm. The room was tiny which that part didn’t really bother me too much. The tv does not face towards the bed. Oh well to that too. What really bothers me is I tell her my issue and ask for a simple coffee. No that’s Starbucks I have to CHARGE YOU! Ok girl you know what fine. I don’t see a barista nor a logo WHATEVER! I know one thing- The Sonesta will not be seeing me and again.
Front desk was friendly and efficient. I liked the water on the first floor and the fact that they have a little doggy station. Window AC was fine. Those of us ate breakfast there had diarrhea. Maybe it was the undercooked egg sandwich. If you go, don’t get sandwiches or anything. Stick to pantry items or things like yogurt or coffee that can’t go wrong. It’s solely for this reason I’m giving a two star. Would have otherwise been a 4 for the price.
When I checked in, the keys didn't work, so I went back down to the desk and they apologized but they gave me a key to an already occupied room. So I went back down to get that rectified. The shower didn't drain and had dirty standing water in the tub whenever the shower was turned on. The room was not clean and had crumbs all over the place and hair from the previous occupant. I went to the front desk three times to tell them about the tub and they asked me to wait an hour but no one came. The location is cool if you want to be near downtown and Georgia Tech but looks are deceiving. And the breakfast wasn't free (which is fine) but the attendant or server was rude to the customer in front of us. Which prompted us to check out immediately after that. If your standards for cleanliness are high, the I don't suggest staying here.
