The Residence Inn by Marriott Atlanta Midtown/Peachtree at 17th offers a convenient location near Piedmont Atlanta and MARTA, making it a good base for exploring the city. However, recent reviews highlight significant issues with cleanliness, maintenance, and inconsistent service, particularly regarding room condition and responsiveness from staff.
I was staying here due to family member having surgery at Piedmont Atlanta a mile down the road. It was very convenient! The best part was Melissa at the front desk. Once I told her about the surgery, she was thoughtful and offered a kind word everytime she saw me or my family. It was refreshing to have such a kind person helping us, but also trying to accommodate our early and late check out needs.
The valet parking attendant Rain was amazing. She is extremely professional and courteous. The hotel was great but the really need luggage carts. They had about 10 broken carts and guest were scrambling to bring there things in.
I never write reviews, but this stood out. I’ve been coming to this hotel for years, and during my stay last week I noticed staff meetings being held in the middle of the lobby. The energy felt tense and oddly performative… serious faces, rigid posture…it’s giving dictatorship, followed by an immediate switch to big smiles and a chorus of “good morning” when I walked through. The politeness is appreciated, but experiencing an internal meeting as a guest felt awkward and unnecessary. A lobby should feel calm and welcoming, not like a front-row seat to management operations. This hotel has done better in the past, and I hope it returns to that standard.
Outstanding Service from Rein at Residence Inn Midtown Rein at the Residence Inn by Marriott Atlanta Midtown/Peachtree at 17th provided truly exceptional service during a long-term resident move-in. She went above and beyond to make what could have been a stressful process smooth and manageable. She was especially accommodating and understanding when the resident was unable to use texting, even though the valet system relies on it. Rein listened carefully, communicated clearly, and made thoughtful adjustments without hesitation. She also kindly helped unload items and get everything onto the cart so we could get belongings upstairs easily. Her patience, professionalism, and genuine care truly stood out. Rein’s outstanding service made a real difference, and we are very grateful for her help.
Booked a room with a tub but given one without. Took awhile but switched rooms just to find out the tub stopper didn't work so couldn't use tub which was pointless. 40 degrees outside and the rooms AC was locked on 65 cool making the room freezing cold reading 63! Maintance came out out as we left for dinner thinking room would be good when got back. Come to find out the AC was now locked on 85 heat turning room into sauna. Ofcourse couldnt open the windows to cool it down so turned it off. Maintenance never came back out as front desk said they didn't send anyone else up as it was late and didnt want to disturb us. We ended up turning the AC turned off and dealing with the hot room that turned cold. One night! Paid $180 for one absolutely miserable night being ignored by staff. Worst hotel visit ever! If it was an option I would give a negative star review but would never recommend this place to anyone!
Kim, Daniella, and Mariah are absolutely wonderful in the morning! If I could start my day with these three women every single day, I would. They all went above and beyond in everything they did, and it felt like second nature to them. Their energy, professionalism, and kindness truly made my mornings brighter. The breakfast food was good… and free, and I love free stuff, so that made it even better! The front desk staff was also extremely friendly, even though I don’t remember anyone’s name. However, I do think they need uniforms at the front desk. Some staff looked a little out of place, almost like they just threw on a sweater or jacket and came to work. For the front-line team, I expected a more polished and coordinated appearance. Kudos to everyone who made my stay enjoyable, especially the morning crew.
I stayed at the hotel last week, and the only truly pleasing part of my visit was the breakfast experience. The breakfast staff is extremely friendly, and the person who stood out the most was Mariah. I really appreciate her warm and welcoming spirit. She made me feel important, not just like another guest, but like I was at home with a motherly presence cooking breakfast and making sure my stay was good. Mariah is an excellent example of great customer service in the hospitality industry. It seems like she always shows up with a smile, and that quality makes a world of difference.
Decent size suites at a very reasonable price compared to regular hotel rooms nearby. The location makes it a great place to make your home base. Close to a MARTA station so you can venture to many POI around the city.
This place wins the award for the most incompetent hotel staff. Management should spend a day observing the employees they have working the front desk to see how poorly they represent the Marriott brand and property. I often travel to Atlanta for work and after a few days of putting up with the foolishness of this place I left. Too many other options to ever stay or recommend this place again.
This Residence Inn is a bit hard to get to and parking is ...difficult (hidden driveway and $50 valet charge) **BUT** it was a great place to stay for a long day of activities in Atlanta followed by a long drive home the next day. The room was clean, airy and well appointed. It featured perhaps the most comfortable bed we had during our 10-day vacation. The staff were helpful and competent - the valets too - and we enjoyed our stay.
