The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee is consistently praised for its beautiful setting, exceptional service, and luxurious amenities. However, recent reviews highlight issues with staffing consistency, particularly in dining, and a lack of personalized service commensurate with the high price point, especially for special occasions. Some guests have experienced cleanliness concerns, and while many staff members are outstanding, a few reports indicate a lack of attentiveness and responsiveness.
The Ritz-Carlton @ Lake Oconee is the kind of place you go when you just want to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. It feels like hidden luxury, quiet, peaceful, and tucked away, but still well known for the service and experience you expect from The Ritz-Carlton. The lake, the views, and the relaxed atmosphere make you slow down as soon as you arrive a real 10 out of 10! It’s upscale without feeling stiff, and it’s the perfect place to rest, reconnect, and enjoy a slower pace. A true Georgia gem.
Not the Ritz of times past...:((( Beautiful property, friendly staff. New hires at ADL restaurant not very knowledgeable about food nor how things should be. The egg cook didn't know what "over medium" was. No one said "My Pleasure". Even CFA says that! Definitely a training issue; no consistency. Club Lounge was overrun with unruly young kids; little parental supervision. They treated the Lounge like it was Chuckee Cheese. Ruined the whole expensive experience. They need to have a SEPARATE ADULT Club Lounge; seriously, not kidding. Have a Family Club Lounge downstairs since they are coming up from the lake & keep the adult one upstairs. That way you could actually keep the kids off the 5th floor altogether & keep it an Adult Floor. Dinner at ADL was a total nightmare & after 3 entree tries & a two hour stay, we left hungry & then Abbie, our server who was nice, had the nerve to actually charge us for the salad & 1 glass of wine. The whole thing should have been comped due to their screw ups. The Oconee Cove was a cool experience, though I think they could make it way cooler by having a "secret password" & one of those slide windows in order to get in. Also they should give you like a secret society coin upon leaving. Make it super cool looking, like the interior of the lounge & then folks could collect them on ever visit. Again, like a secret society type of thing. The furniture in our Club Level room was just o.k. Nothing elegant or Ritzy about it. The flowers inside everywhere are a beautiful touch & we did appreciate our chilled bottle of Prosecco to celebrate our anniversary; nice touch. Honestly, though, except for a few staff members (Tyesha, Mckenzie, Olga, Marc, Justin & Patti), the whole experience was pretty average. Just not worth the price we paid for sure.
We stayed at The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee for our engagement trip, and despite nearly two months of planning and communication with staff beforehand, the experience was a major disappointment. Multiple employees knew this was a surprise proposal weekend. We discussed proposal plans, concierge support, room setup expectations, and personalized touches in advance. My fiancée is also a Marriott Titanium Elite member, and we upgraded to club level expecting the elevated personalized service Ritz-Carlton advertised, including a dedicated concierge/butler experience. What a joke. The club lounge was essentially a glorified snack bar, and we never saw our assigned concierge after arrival. Most disappointing of all, we were charged for an in-suite engagement décor package that was never done. After the proposal, we returned to nothing more than strawberries and a generic note thanking my fiancée for staying there. No champagne, no romantic setup, no meaningful acknowledgment that we had just gotten engaged. Friends and family immediately asked what the room looked like when we returned after getting engaged because people naturally expect a Ritz-Carlton to do something memorable for an occasion like this. It was honestly embarrassing to tell them that essentially nothing had been done. Even our “romantic couples massage” was disappointing because we were separated instead of being placed together in a couples room. The food throughout the stay was mediocre and lackluster at best, with the exception of Linger Longer Steakhouse, which was excellent. The suite itself was also underwhelming for the price point. We dealt with an AC system that never properly cooled the room, mold and hair in the shower, bandaids stuck to the wall/smoke detector, and a shower so small we joked we’ve had larger showers at a Courtyard Marriott. There were some kind staff members on property, but overall this felt nothing like the Ritz-Carlton experience we expected for such an important milestone. Other Ritz properties have done significantly more for simple birthday celebrations than this property did for our engagement. Because of how underwhelming this experience was, we’ve decided not to move forward with hosting our wedding here. We would not recommend this property for proposals, weddings, anniversaries, or other major celebrations.
Well, 2nd stay at the Lake Oconee and I have to say it is been remarkable both visits. We dined at the Oconee Cove after having a lovely spread of yumminess in the room prior. Gede did not disappoint on his laughter, his respectfulness, and his taste to making the perfect cocktail for my wife and I for her birthday. The Blinis and caviar we're amazing, however I recommend removing most of the creme fraiche on the bottom. I would rather just have the caviar. The Champaign poached shrimp cocktail was delicious. The room service was just like you had dined in a restaurant and we did a lot of that this time. In October we stayed and dined at Linger Longer and had a wonderful meal. I still want to try the tri-way crab cakes they seem delicious an infectious. My wife actually left her airpods in the room. They found them and they are mailing them to our address. We had a wonderful experience both times in the spa without any issues and loving the mimosas. We could want for nothing. I highly recommend if you need a Trip Away... I highly recommend Liz for your massage she was amazing!
This was my #2 overall hotels that I've stayed in. #1 being Ritz-Carlton BalHarbour Miami. The people the service the kindness the accommodation. They went out there way to make sure I did not want for anything. And when the birds pooped all over my car they gave us bonvoy points to rectify the issue (valet parked). To be clear NO ill feelings!!!!. Outstanding place to be at. AND FREE fishing!!!!!!! Can't beat that with a whipping pole.
I’ve stayed at the Ritz at Lake Oconee a few times. I must say the experience was amazing. My room was nice. I had an amazing dinner on property. Love the toiletries that’s provided to you. I find that it’s really good quality. The levels at the Ritz is a little off because the lobby is on the 3rd floor but if you want a luxury getaway this is the place for you. there is so much to do that doesn’t cost you anything extra. Check here for that experience
Honestly… who doesn’t love a Ritz? You always know what you’re getting: next-level service, incredible facilities, and a truly world-class experience. But I’ll be honest, the Ritz-Carlton Lake Oconee hits different. The staff is amazing, the property is absolutely beautiful, and the entire experience is on another level. It’s perfect for a weekend with your wife or a full family getaway. Great in the winter, great in the summer, just a really special place.
Staying at The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee felt like a real reset from everyday life. The place has this peaceful atmosphere that hits you the moment you arrive, everything from the lake views to the way the staff greets you makes you slow down a little. My room was spotless and incredibly comfortable, and it actually felt like they paid attention to small details that most places overlook. Walking the property early in the morning was one of my favorite parts; it’s just quiet, calm, and beautiful. I left feeling refreshed and already thinking about when I could come back.
A very pleasant hotel with excellent service throughout my visit. The room was modern, well-equipped, and spotless. Breakfast was tasty with a wide variety of options. The staff made everything feel easy and stress-free. A great place to stay whether you're traveling for work or leisure.
Pretty spectacular setting. The grounds, building, and area are amazing. Service was excellent as soon as we pulled up in front and interacted with valet staff. Very comfortable except for the pillows. But we are picky when it comes to pillows. Lots of amenities, loads of activities to do.
