Barnsley Resort consistently receives positive feedback for its stunning grounds, luxurious accommodations, and expansive range of activities. Guests praise the friendly and attentive staff, creating a memorable and relaxing experience, particularly during events like the James Beard Weekend. However, some reviews highlight concerns around pricing, inconsistent service, and occasional issues with food quality.
While it was a little out of the way and I was somewhat apprehension because of the present climate that the current presidential administration has this country in. I was pleasantly surprised with the overall experience, every team member we encountered was pleasant, very welcoming and extremely helpful. There are available activities for all ages. Horse back riding, spa, adult pool, lazy river, 18 hole golf, miniature golf, fishing, archery. I could go on and on. I will be back and will bring friends.
Lovely property but much too expensive for quality of accommodations. The food was very good and the staff were very nice. Our house had ant infestation. Porches were not clean or swept. No corkscrew. One of our nespresso machines didn't not work. Too few nespresso pods provided for 13 people. They did bring more upon request. There was a tree outside our house that was not trimmed and we had to navigate the branches each time we left. My room only had one robe. Dusty blinds and mantel. Dead centipede on my vanity bench. All this I could overlook if I hadn't paid $8400 for two nights. I was not provided with a detailed invoice. My confirmation said total bill was $7400 yet when I got there the total bill was $8444. Supposedly because taxes and resort fee was not included but the math never really made sense but I did not receive an invoice so didn't see a breakdown. I would like to see the resort fee of $50 per room simply added to cost of room.
We recently stayed at the resort and had an outstanding experience from start to finish. The staff across the property were consistently kind, attentive, and genuinely focused on making our stay memorable. The grounds were beautifully maintained, and the golf course and putting green were truly first class—perfect for both serious play and casual enjoyment. Dining was a highlight of our visit. At Woodlands, the staff were extremely knowledgeable about the menu and offered excellent wine pairings that elevated the entire meal. They also went above and beyond for our 3-year-old, preparing simple buttered noodles and providing items to keep her entertained, which made a big difference for our family. An especially memorable evening was spent at Jules. Kris, our mixologist, crafted the best Old Fashioned I’ve had in years and surprised our table with dirty espresso martinis that were absolutely incredible. He truly made the night special. Louis, the manager, checked in multiple times to ensure everything exceeded expectations. There was a minor issue with wasps in the private dining room, but the staff handled it quickly by relocating us. While the main dining area was a bit louder, we still had a great time. The Godfrey Cottage rooms were gorgeous, and the property offered plenty to do for both couples and families. We’re already looking forward to returning.
I was here for a business trip so I can't speak much about the prices, but the experience was exceptional! Usually business trips can feel busy, long, and very tiresome. However, coming back to this place immediately felt like we could take a breath and relax. The grounds were very well kept, my cottage felt very cozy, and the dining was delicious! Several of us talked about coming here again outside of business because we had such a great time!
I have been coming to Barnsley Gardens for years and each time am re-reminded of what a magical place it is. This time was no different. We were excited to share in the James Beard Foundation weekend experience. Just Incredible!! We enjoyed a history tour hosted by the talented Daisy and Karry ending in the ruins for a wine tasting with Master Sommelier Michael McNeill. Then on to the luxurious spa where Tanya’s deep tissue massage was the perfect way to top off the afternoon. I have had several massages at Barnsley and they never disappoint! On to Jules-night 1-where Kris, (amazing mixologist also one of the nicest people we know) made delicious drinks before Daisy again took such good care of us! There were 4 James Beard nominated chefs in town for the event. One being the executive chef at Jules! We loved visiting with them and especially Duane Nutter who did a book signing “Cutting Up In The Kitchen” which we read cover to cover in our well appointed cottage with a toasty fire and Etta James playing in the background. I mean come on right now! The main event for the weekend was at Jules on Saturday night. We were greeted with champagne and scrumptious pass arounds and the most delicious meal presented by these talented chefs. We met wonderful people and I know that a good time was had by all! Bravo!! Well done Barnsley staff! We can’t wait to come back!!
Every time I go to Barnsley it is always a great time. Atttended the James Beard event. Started with a history and wine tour with Daisy and Karry. Ended in the ruins with sommelier Michael. Great day. Dinner that night at the Jules restaurant. Kris a master mixologist, Daisy, Lora, Adam, Drew pampered us while Chef Doty and his team prepared amazing dishes. Shelby and Okan did a great job organizing the weekend including a book signing with Duane Nutter. The James Beard dinner was an amazing experience. Beautifully crafted dishes paired with great wine. Jason and his whole team worked very hard to create a wonderful experience. Thank you so much
Barnsley is a gem! Commenting here regarding a recent Wine and History Tour. It was exceptional! The history is truly amazing - really a love story! Our historian and wine guide were so much fun - lots of great stories and information about great wines. They worked together seamlessly. The wine tasting with Georgia’s only Master Sommelier was a highlight. We would definitely do this again!!
A memorable experience attending a meeting at the Barnsley resort. We stayed in the cottage, which was so very well appointed very clean and a lovely experience. The meeting went extremely well. The food and beverage was excellent. The service was fantastic. We had events outside despite the cooler temperature and the hotel team could not have been more accommodating. What an awesome place to hold your event. I can’t wait to go back and enjoy it on Leisure weekend.
This was our first trip to the resort. A quick trip from Atlanta for a long weekend after Christmas. We stayed in one of the charming, well appointed, dog friendly cottages. Happily dined at the Biergarden and the Woodlands, and had room service from Woodlands. We also took advantage of some of the spa services. And thoroughly enjoyed the grounds and hiking paths. We're looking forward to sharing this gem with friends.
First stay at Barnsley, overall an enjoyable experience. The Biergarten is the highlight, centrally located to maximize social experience. Great for Families and kids, they had live music Friday and Saturday night. Food is good, breakfast could use some improvements (waffles are just ok, had no butter which was strange). Did have real maple syrup instead of the fake cheap stuff which was nice. Our disappointment from the weekend was dinner at Jules. Food is mediocre at best and overpriced for that level of quality. Met some locals on Saturday who said they never go there because of their friends underwhelming experiences, wish we would’ve met them earlier during our stay. They need to continue investing in the Biergarten experience, put your best people and food in this area. Tanner and Michael are friendly and we enjoyed getting to know them. Lastly did the Archery and the staff at the Farm was great as well. We’ll be back (just not at Jules)
