The DoubleTree by Hilton Atlanta Perimeter Dunwoody offers a convenient location near the Perimeter Mall and highway access, but recent reviews reveal a mixed experience. While staff members are often friendly, particularly Kenny and Derrick, cleanliness and maintenance concerns have been raised, including issues with power outages, cockroaches, mold, and malfunctioning amenities.
The service was great, the room was a little dated but overall very clean. I was traveling with a trailer and the large parking lot in the back was perfect for larger vehicles. The only reason I couldn't give 5 stars is because the power went out around 9:30pm the night of my stay but came back on shortly after. I believe the power outage effected the A/C system because the room would not cool down afterwards. The room got up to 72 overnight and just prevented me from getting a good night sleep.
I had an event here Saturday in one of the banquet rooms and it was great. Beautiful hotel great staff. Room was updated and clean. It’s really a hidden gem. Tons of space. Our family and friends loved the atmosphere and aesthetic. Micah checked us in with a welcoming smile. A warm thank you to the Supervisor Kenny at the front desk, the bartender and the servers. And compliments to the chef Sherwin and Peter for the food it was delicious.
This was not the first time I've stayed at this location and it has significantly gone downhill. First, there was rarely anyone at the front desk. You'd have to wait a few minutes or go looking for someone if you needed anything. Second, while my room seemed clean I found a dead cockroach in the room. Anyone who was cleaning would have seen it. I told the front desk about it in the morning before I went to work. They wrote it down and said it would be taken care of. I returned in late afternoon and the cockroach was still there. Someone had been in the room because the end of the toilet paper had been made a triangle, yet they hadn't done anything else. Micah was great when I went down to the front desk to ask it to be taken care of. Third, the breakfast is absolutely awful! First, the breakfast itself is among the worst I've had. I don't know how you mess up grits, but this hotel manages it. I stayed at a Hilton the week before and the week after and both of those breakfasts were far superior and cost less. This breakfast isn't worth more than $10, if that. And the service is absolutely appalling. The waiter seems to only greet white men. The only words he said to me were to stop me from walking into the dining area after I stood by the front for a few minutes with no one there. However, I saw him warmly greet the next people to walk up. This same difference in service continued throughout the breakfast. I had to get to his attention to ask for the check, while he repeatedly check in on the white pilots a table over. On my second day there another table was joking about the horrible service and breakfast too. While the location is good and the rooms are a good size this is not somewhere I'll be staying again without a major change in staff.
Needs maintainance and TLC. First the good: cookies. Good looking lobby. Very friendly employees. Nice bed. The less than good: The luggage cart had four flat pneumatic tires. The door to the room hits the frame and makes a loud squeal and scrape when you open and close it. The room safe doesn't work (probably a battery; and I told the front desk but nobody ever came up). On the second day the housekeeper didn't come at all. And a GIANT cockroach greeted us from on the wall in the third floor elevator lobby at 8:30pm one night. For the money, look elsewhere.
Beautiful hotel and very clean rooms. The staff were genuinely wonderful and made the stay pleasant. The interior of the hotel is really nice and feels upscale. A couple downsides: there was a slight smell of weed throughout parts of the hotel during our stay, and the pool was closed which was disappointing. Also, the breakfast is absolutely not worth the $23 they charge. I got it through Expedia for $9 and it still felt overpriced. The WiFi is also very slow and inconsistent. Overall a nice place to stay with great staff — just skip the breakfast.
Kenny was amazing. He checked me in early, told me about all the great restaurants and happenings in the area. I’ve returned to this same hotel because the staff person, Derrick was so amazing here at the Dunwoody location. The hotel is clean and near a major highway. I’ve returned for another great experience.
I had a fantastic stay at the DoubleTree in Dunwoody during my recent trip to Atlanta! From the moment I walked in, the service was top-notch. Of course, you can’t beat starting your stay with their legendary warm chocolate chip cookie—it’s the perfect welcome. What really made this stay exceptional was the hospitality. I want to give a huge shoutout to Kenny and Jermaine, who were both absolutely excellent. They took such good care of me from the moment I checked in until the moment I checked out, making sure every detail of my stay was handled. It’s rare to find that level of attentive service! The location is incredibly convenient for exploring the Perimeter area, and my room was spotless, modern, and very comfortable. Whether you're here for business or just a quick getaway, this hotel hits all the marks for comfort and convenience. I’ll definitely be booking here again the next time I’m in town!
Some things are a little dated or out of order but most of it is fantastic. Rooms are spacious, comfortable, and clean. Gym is huge, pool is large, parking is convenient, and service has been top quality. With a little more repair and refresh this will be a 5 star all around. Will definitely stay here again.
This hotel has been great. The staff, especially Kenny, are helpful. Some rooms need a little touch up but if you need anything the staff will solve it right away. Food is good as well.
I’ve stayed at this property several times and have always had a pleasurable experience. Kenny at the front desk (manager) is extremely kind and courteous, and it’s evident that he takes great pride in his position with Doubletree (Hilton). The check-in process today was quick & easy, and my room was ready upon my arrival. Definitely 5-star service!
