The Barclay Hotel Atlanta Downtown offers a convenient location near Mercedes Benz Stadium and MARTA, particularly appealing for travelers attending events. While some guests appreciate its value and friendly staff, the hotel suffers from dated rooms and occasional maintenance issues, like low water pressure.
Very basic hotel. The beds are ok and the room was clean. However there is no fridge in the room nor vent in the bathroom. The TV would only work on a couple channels the others just blipped. The area feels a little sketchy but we haven’t had any issues. The staff is very nice and accommodating, the saving grace for this place.
I lead a group of 40 students with chaperones. We decided to stay at the Barclay due to the location. We had a great experience! When my group arrived, we were courteously greeted (which is not always typical for a group of hs and ms students!) Check in was fast and easy! We were provided with a list of where each student group was - with the keys already prepped and divided. The on site staff was very supportive and helpful - and most importantly, as teachers and chaperones, we felt safe and comfortable.
I did not have a good experience and checked out after only having the hotel for 5 hours. I picked this location because it was the only one that had availability the dates I were going. The service was nice, but the hotel is extremely dated and old. The elevator works, but I don’t know for how much longer. The rooms were also extremely dated and not the most thorough cleaning, but the bed looked clean and fresh. I had my own personal gripes that are just purely my own preference and doesn’t add to this review cause everyone is different. But the straw that broke the camel’s back was the bed. Looks were very deceiving. It felt like a sheet was just over box springs and nothing else. This is a place for someone who literally just needs a place for a quick turn around trip. Again, no complaints with the service, but extremely overpriced.
The staff members Shay and Amar went above and beyond to help me during my brief, 2-night stay. Shay helped us with late check in during the busy World Cup travel season and Amar quickly mailed me back two forgotten items to my home residence out of state. We booked for the central location (15min. walk to Mercedes Benz stadium) and MARTA train to airport. The other highlight was the breakfast in the morning, hot coffee, and lemon water in the atrium (thoughtful touches). The only suggestion to improve would be the plumbing, since our water pressure was low and toilet would not flush.
We stayed at the Barclay one night to go to FIFA Fan Fest. Very reasonably priced. The room was a bit dated but the room was very clean and bed was quite comfortable. The service was great from the moment we walked in. Got to check in early and walk to Centennial Park which was about 3 blocks away. Location is great and the breakfast was delicious! Waffles, eggs, omelets, pastries, sausage, grits, yogurt. Yum… I would absolutely recommend!
