I stayed for three nights, and unfortunately the experience did not live up to the JW standards. During my stay, my room was only cleaned once out of the three nights. The room felt stuffy, which didn’t help my allergies. They had limited dining options and inconvenient hours. The most frustrating part of my stay happened on check out day. While getting ready to leave, my car keys were missing. After spending nearly an hour searching and panicking, I went to the front desk for assistance. I was told that housekeeping had accidentally taken the keys while cleaning my room. I was frustrated that no effort was made to make up for the inconvenience. This derailed the plans I had for the day. This was a very disappointing experience overall.

I had a rough day. I came in to the hotel bar to cool off from a hot Summer day and the service and hospitality that was extended to me? Nothing short of phenomenal. Thank you to all the staff! Debbie and Clifton especially showed me a level of service that in the declining restaurant/food/beverage scene? We’re true gems. Thanks you.

While the staff and rooms were absolutely lovely, the surprise incidental charge was not. I recently stayed for 4 days and 3 nights and was surprised to be charged an extra $296 a night coming to total of $888 extra. This charge is more than I had initially paid for the room. This is absolutely outrageous pricing for an incident fee. In my years of traveling and staying at all spectrum of hotels, this was the most exorbitant incidental fee I have ever received so be warned when booking a stay here. Instead of the usual 50-100 dollar incident hold, you will have quite an egregious number on that bill. There are much nicer hotels to stay at with a luxury feel than this one if one plans on staying in Atlanta.

I stayed at the JW Marriott Atlanta Downtown recently, and honestly, it was one of the most disappointing Marriott experiences I’ve had so far. The hotel seems to have been “renovated,” but unfortunately the rooms were renovated very poorly. A lot of small details were clearly ignored - it feels like they just painted over existing problems and called it an upgrade. Another major issue was the smell throughout the hotel. The lobby, elevators, and even the hallways on every floor smelled strongly like weed. It honestly felt like the hotel was trying to cover it up with fragrances, but it really wasn’t working. Once you walk inside, you immediately understand “why”. The staff itself was actually great - everyone we interacted with was very friendly and polite. However, the valet guys seemed to have no real system for parking cars, and at one point someone almost ran into our car because of the confusion and lack of clearly organized parking spaces. And yes, the pool was closed. Even the area just to enjoy the view without using the pool was completely closed off because of the weather, which was pretty disappointing. There wasn’t even any rain at the time - just some thunder. For the price, this hotel is unbelievably overpriced. Breakfast isn’t even included, which makes the value feel even worse. I personally wouldn’t consider this a “luxury” Marriott experience at all.

They just transitioned from W Hotel to JW Marriot. I liked the experience. Everything seemed new and clean. Staff were kind. I liked the city view from the pool too. The executive lounge was good with a variety of food and snacks. They didn’t have alcohol at the lounge but that’s not a deal breaker for me. If I come back to Atlanta I’d probably stay here again.
